Mixed experience
I bought this product, because it was readily available on Amazon (I used Real Milk paint before), and there was free shipping, so a few bucks cheaper, all in all. . Although the end result was quite good, I experienced two issues : 1. the instructions tell you simply to mix powder with water in a 1:1 ratio. Now 1:1 on what basis, weight or volume ? I tried volume, and this was completely off. You need at least two parts of water for one part of powder. 2. the paint is really difficult to mix, and is clumping, even if shaken or stirred over an extended period of time. A clumpy paint results in a flawed „pickled“ surface which is difficult to remediate. I got only acceptable results once I used a little lab mixer with my electric drill at high speed.

Who knew?
I used this milk paint, which is a light grey color, and added equal parts of paint and hemp oil together to make a wood stain for my new butcher block counters. The hemp oil is food safe and it worked very well together. Stir it up, paint it on with a brush or cloth, wait a few minutes and wipe it off. I waited overnight to do a final buffing. I took a darker dreary looking butcher block countertop to a very much lighter and not so boring countertop! It matches perfectly with my new laminate flooring that is maple and grey! Love it!!

Love it!
One bag painted the whole fireplace black! I then used a bit to make a gray wash and go over it. It worked exactly how I hoped to get the look I was after! It will mix with acrylic based paints (at least it did for me). After you mix it, make sure you let it rest a bit to get to the right consistency. 20ish minutes worked for me. I mixed in small batches so it wouldn’t dry out or go bad. I also sealed it with a matte sealant so it wouldn’t chip off and expose the red brick beneath.BONUSES:-Drips, spills, splatters are easily wiped up or washed out of clothes.-It has zero stink to it.-It dries quickly.-I only needed one coat to get solid coverage.

Nice coverage and performance, if used properly.
Had only used latex paint to paint furniture previously - this is quite a bit different:Don't follow packet instructions: use 2:1 warm water:powder, stir 10 min+ to get as much of the paint mixed as possible - seriously keep stirring minimum 2 times longer than you think is necessary. Let stand for 30min (there's a chemical process that occurs - it'll bubble & thicken), then strain through cheesecloth into a vessel for holding your paint. Consistency is closer to heavy cream than latex.I painted two stools. 3 coats of Red Barn (sanded and wiped between coats) + 2 coats of pitch black, rubbed with paper bag after each coat (1 coat of pitch black would have been more visually interesting, however).I like the flat finish -

Great product!
Used this product in Snow White to refinish this antique hutch. I am so in love! So glad I chose to use milk paint. The chippy look still gives the piece an antique feel. The color is not true white, it is more off white and this was after 3 coats.

Works as it should when used properly
If you want something that looks and applies like latex paint, don't buy milk paint. If you want your piece to look like those on pinterest do yourself a favor and spend 10 minutes reading about how to - and how not to - apply milk paint.Spoiler alert: unless you follow the directions, plan ahead, have patience, pay attention to details, and do a little research, you will be disappointed in the results - including the inevitable chipping (which many of us actually buy it FOR).Spoiler alert #2: If it chips and you didn't want it to, 1) you did not do the above, and 2) see #1.As a small business owner nothing irks me more than people writing bad reviews without doing cursory research and really following directions.I tried this on 10 different test pieces, it worked great and as I would expect milk paint to on each type of piece based on their preparation. The color also can not be matched by any regular paint, even the faux "milk paints."
