Works great
Had for a few years, just did the review. Sturdy, still looks sharp. Very happy with it.

Sturdy steps.
Sturdy and well made steps. They come pre-drilled with hardware for securing to your dock. Materials seem like they will stand up to weather for some time. Added some glow in the dark tape on the steps to aid night use.

Great product, but still be careful
I already had the single version of this exact dock step, used on my own wood dock. The dock is old and weathered and therefore not slippery. Having recently purchased a sailboat docked at a marina in a rented slip, I thought it would be perfect.I learned 2 things. First of all, size matters. If it's too much of a stretch, you don't center your weight on the step. That means that when your leg is extended, it can push the step away from you. Result? SPLASH!Secondly, consider the dock texture. The rental, unlike my dock, is smooth. If you have the right size for the boat, slipping isn't as much of an issue because your weight will be more evenly distributed, but if the dock itself is slick, of course it's an increased risk. So, while I would have rather used what I already have, getting this one, which is a perfect size, was a good investment.I was quite surprised to learn that I'm allowed to drill holes in the rented dock, so for 100% safety (and because I'm a klutz) it's going to be bolted down. That's also a good idea because nothing is as annoying as waking up after a storm to find that your steps jumped ship!I hope this review helps, if you need more info or a photo, I'm happy to obligeUPDATE: I added the Taylormade Dock Step Railing Double Tread, for increased safety. Easy to install, very pleased with both purchases.

The quintissential boat dock steps with some quality control issues.
These are your ubiquitous boat steps that you see on docks all over the place. They are sturdy and look the part and no one will complain when you screw one of these to the town dock at your boat. My stairs arrived in a basic cardboard box in a clear bag with no padding/protection but these things are pretty tough so that's not a ding. They do include screws to attach this to a wood dock and they worked well, so that's a plus. What did bother me - and why I removed a star - is that there were two obvious quality control failures on the unit that I received. First was that the bottom rim was not cut correctly and the cut actually crept up into the steps at one point and left a gaped sliver (see the picture). The other was the no-slip strips were not applied correctly - one was way off center and both were not completely within the recessed area where they belong. Fortunately I was able to remove and re-apply them correctly and the glue does not seem to have been negatively affected. The mis-cut bottom does not seem to affect the unit's overall strength so I didn't bother returning it (I also needed them urgently) but for what is basically a very expensive piece of injection molded plastic, I would expect better QC.Longevity-wise I have had them on the dock in full sea/sun for most of the summer here in the NE and after a hose-down they always look good as new. They take the weight of larger adults without flexing very much at all and the grips really work to make a non-slip surface. I have other Taylor Made products that showed no QC issues so this may have been a rare instance but it should never have made it to shipping.
