this is possibly the finest tool I've ever bought
For $7, this is possibly the finest tool I've ever bought. I'm currently in the process of finishing my basement, and I decided it would be a good idea to add some network (cat5e)and TV (RG6)cables. I ordered the cable, and dug out my old cable cutter that I'd acquired from work. Turned out to be junk; I'd never used it. I figured I'd make do. I then tried to find my old termination tool...no idea where it had hidden itself, so I ordered a new punch down tool, and one of these for the sake of it.Having read the instructions, I gave it a go and marveled at how neat it stripped the insulation from cat5 cable, and cut it to length, too. Having run my drops of cat5, I laid 3 RG6 runs, and decided to give this a go - I was shocked at how quickly and easily it did the job of stripping the outer and inner insulation to the right lengths! I slipped a connector over the end of the cable and crimped it down - job done. Nothing could have been easier.Highly recommended for the money.2 caveats - First, as someone else said, don't apply any pressure yourself, let it do the job (and you can feel when it's done), second, after stripping 20 cat5 runs, I can feel it's not as sharp as it was originally, though it's got plenty of life in it.If there's a professional version of this tool, I'd be tempted, especially if I was running cable every day, but for occasional use, at this price point, I fail to see how it can be beaten.

Strips cable as needed
This cable stripper works well at stripping co-ax cable, stripping both the inner sleeve around the central wire and the outer wrapping around the grounding mesh at one time.

Perfect for Luminary MC
A coworker introduced me to this style of tool. I'm an electrician, we are installing more and more of the "luminary" cable. 12/2 MC with the 0-10v dimming cable incorporated in the same armor. The 0-10 wires have a stubborn thick coating with no pull string for stripping. The controllers we use require about a foot of the low voltage wiring. Stripping this much of a wire with no pull string is not fun, especially all over a commercial building. This tool, adjusted properly, makes quick work of the low voltage portion of the luminary cable. I've used it on Cat6 cable and RG6. These are not cables I work with often, there may very well be better solutions, but it worked when I needed it to. It is very lightweight, maybe a little flimsy. It has taken a few falls from a 6' ladder with no issue. At this point, I wouldn't be upset at all if it broke the next time it fell. I'd buy it again.

It was cheaper than a competitor and it had a finger guard so I purchased it because it had equal or better reviews than a compe
I underestimated this tool significantly. It was cheaper than a competitor and it had a finger guard so I purchased it because it had equal or better reviews than a competitor. To my surprise the only thing cheap was the price; it had some heft to it. If there is a means to just replace the razors in it when necessary, it will last a long while. That description just doesn't do it justice.I'm trying to think how to put this into comparison. For those of you that do not know tools. Think of a plastic straw, flimsy, use once then toss. But to your surprise, this thing is like a thick durable straw inside of a re-usable sports bottle. For the tool-handy, imagine thin sprinkler drip line in one hand and then hefty PVC in the other. This is like the hefty PVC. It will take a beating and not break (just don't try to torture test it, everything has limits). The depth adjustment screw is my favorite part. Every cable sheath is a little different, especially when cutting between Cat5e and some durable Cat6. A lot of retail products won't let you se that depth as easily. Anyway, a word of caution. This is a cutting tool designed to make tedious cutting work easier. As such, there are lots of razors. Please, do not children anywhere near it. Trust me, that thought won't resinate with you until you're holding it in your hards. It's by design, just be careful. Anyway, if you do cable work, throw a couple of these in your toolboxes at home and work.

gets the job done--with modification
I had a flat Cat 8 ethernet cable that was accidentally cut by a weed whacker (don't ask!).I've made plenty of ethernet cables before, so I assumed it would be similarly easy. Nope! Cutting the flat cable to expose the inner 8 wires was tremendously difficult, so I bought this cutting tool.It cut the cable sheath without going clear through, but it nicked the tiny wires every time, making them not work.I had a bit of rubber that I stuck on the spot where the handles met, and it made it just bigger enough to do the job right.

Junk, broke first time
The good: it successfully stripped one Cat6 cable. The bad: it broke in the process, so I only got 1 use out of it. Yes, it broke the very first time I used it.Conclusion: If you will only need to use this once and never again then this tool should suite your needs. Otherwise don't buy it.

One stop shop
This bad boy is sharp af! I only handle this tool with gloves on. When I first got it I sliced the mess out of my pinky finger. Other than that it works great to prep co-ax and ethernet cords. It had a knob to adjust the position of the blade to cut rj45 coating to get to the wires. You can also cut clean through the rj45 with the pinky cutting blade in the back 🤣For the price this is a great all in one tool.

A Real Time-Saver
This tool works like a charm for me! I have a great deal of salvaged CAT-5 cable from my former business which I am stripping for the solid 24ga wire in order to wire an extensive model railroad. Before finding the stripping tool, I was using an Xacto knife and pulling the wire cover off in short segments (~6-8 inches). Frequently nicked the wire insulation, and also my thumb! With this tool, I was able to strip longer segments without damage to the wire insulation, and salvaged more than 1,000 feet of 24 gauge wire in less than an hour. With adjustment to the blade, I have been able to strip telephone cable (8 and 12 pair) with some good success. I have also used it, with a little success on old printer cable to get at the 30 ga wire in them. Thanks!
