This coffee delivers on what is promised and can produce a beautiful cup
I ordered this Sumatra with some hesitation. I'm not a coffee snob, exactly, but I became hooked on fresh-roasted beans (and, thus, freshly ground beans) in my early 20's. I began managing a Barnes & Noble bookstore shortly thereafter and I really don't recall the B&N/Starbucks arrangement but I know that my store was more intimately related to Starbucks than some other stores. The management team in the B&N store, therefore, had to know how to manage a gang of barista's as well as to serve as a barista. We had two weeks of training under a Starbucks' trainer until we had everything there was to know about coffee, espresso, latte's and on and on, to even knowing the different types of regular drip pots, coffee presses, and (my favorite) Chemex brewing methods. So I began, then, buying Starbucks whole bean coffees. I would, occasionally, see what I could only imagine to be a 'test' coffee for sale but after I started ordering my Starbucks coffee from Amazon I only switched from one bean to another on a monthly basis.I'm not sure how I found this Stone Street brand nor this particular Sumatra. But after two pots in two days I can say that it certainly delivers the hardy (and a bit untamed) tones as promised. I'll be looking at other Stone Street coffees as well as other brands on Amazon. But as for this particular taste - it's fantastic. Fantastic.

A Good Coffee
Coffee preferences are subjective.I like rich, dark, big bottomed, flavored coffees with chocolate undertones sans bitter after taste. I've brewed three pots of this coffee and have concluded it is very good but is a bit bitter for my taste. I suspect those who enjoy Starbucks coffee will like it very much.A quick comment about Stone Street, the coffee maker. My order never arrived and Amazon's site does not allow for a rebate without first receiving an item return. I was stuck in no-coffee land. I emailed Stone Street about this and the owner of the company emailed me her mobile phone number allowing me to actually chat with her about the problem. The upshot is she made good by mailing me the coffee I'd already paid for at no additional charge. Amazon needs to amend their website to offer a rebate based on a non-delivery.Final note: If I were to purchase more of this coffee I'd buy it directly from Stone Street. If one buys it in bulk, shipping is free and the coffee is discounted.

Best Sumatra For The Money
Have tried many others but the Stone Street is the best dark roast Sumatra for your money. Full 1lb for the same price others charge for 12oz. Nicely dark roasted with oils visible on the beans.....which also help the grinds stay intact when grinding. Smooth, flavorful, and low acid. Packaging is very good and resealable on the 1lb bag.

The Best!
I have to say, I love Stone Street. Their beans are the best. They are fresh, look, smell and great flavor!! Been on a Sumatra kick lately and won't buy my beans from anyone else. For the money you can't go wrong. I sheepishly say, that I bought a bag of another brand based on a recommendation of a co-worker. It was Mexican variety, while tasty, just didn't have the full body I was looking for. If Stone Street ever does Mexican, I might give it a try, after my current flavor kick! I've also had their other flavors and they are top notch as well.A few months ago, I had, I think it was Ethiopian or something. I was concerned because the beans didn't look like what I was used to. I contacted customer support and they were quick and responsive, explaining to this newbie that the flavor I had was supposed to be like it was. Long and short, customer service is great and responsive. Beans are top notch! Great company, great beans!

Not Fresh
I should have known better to order coffee from a source other than from a direct roaster. The "Best By" date was Mar 07 2023 - Eight months after my purchase. Crazy. I normally purchase directly from roasters, who label their bags "Roasted on XXXX date", not Best By XXXX.I grinded the Stone Street beans in my Baratza and sprinkled the grounds in my Hario V60. This is when you know the beans are not freshly roasted: The coffee did not bloom. My initial pour sank to the bottom of the filter in 5-6 seconds. Any volatile gases from the roasting process were long gone.I did several pour overs, varying time and temperature. Each resulted in a cup that was lacking in flavor and had distinct sour notes. Sumatra coffee should have soft, sweet flavors. To be fair, the poor quality is not the fault of Stone Street. We just don't know when the coffee was roasted, how it was stored at Amazon and the transport conditions.
