Suave Hairspray Safe - Diversion Safe

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my sister who can never make it to the bank. There are several issues with the product.1. When you open the bottom, the portion that holds the money is quite visibly loose. This is not a manufacturing issue and does not impede the use of the product, but I see no reason why the interior foam and innards should be showing. It gives the feeling of something incomplete and home made. Would it really have been so difficult to include a plastic ring to give the item a more uniform feel?2. The can is weak. I felt like I could crush it with my hand. This is another issue I feel would be helped if they had taken time to hide the innards, thus strengthening the bottom if the can with the said plastic ring.3. The item was shipped without any sort of packaging. It was basically wrapped in bubble wrap and mailed in an envelope, again giving it a rather shoddy homemade feel. As this was a gift, I would have liked it to a bit more professional.4. The first I received was scuffed and had water spots. I put in for an exchange and the second one had the same issue with water spots and scuff Mark's, with the added bonus of a small dent that was beginning to rust. Very low quality materials were used and/or these are being stored in someone wet basement or garage.Basically, the only reason for the 2 star review is the sheer novelty of the item and the fact that the lid did screw on well. Other than those 2 thing, this item is just shy of something I could make myself, and sloppily at that.

This does look like the real thing, although the version I received was a pink Suave hairspray can (not a problem for me at all). It has a screw-off bottom compartment which opens to reveal the hidey-hole. :) I kind of wish the interior hidden compartment were a little larger, but can see why it's not because of the way it's made. There seems to be some padding or weighted material between the inner compartment and the outer shell of the can. When you turn the can over, it makes a slight swishing sound, almost as if there is hairspray inside it. Very cool, and I'm very pleased with the item for hiding a little cash or a few small valuables.

The outside of the canister looks real and has a hefty weight to it, to make it seem more realistic. However, mine came with the bottom detached from the twist-off cap of the inner container, so I had to glue it back on in order to open the inner "safe" container, which is why I gave it 4 stars. I had also purchased the "Glade" diversion safe, but this Suave Hairspray is much better in that since the canister itself is wider, the inner container is also roomier and easier to get things in and out of. The inner container (the "safe") is about the length of a regular ball point pen (5.75") and has a diameter of just under 2 inches, so it's still mostly useful for small pieces of jewelry or a small roll of bills. All in all, I'm happy with it!

Not weighted, so very light, even if it were an empty can. Bottom came with a dent and scratched. One area not tucked over, so there is gap between the can and the bottom. Came in a padded envelope, so lthere was little protection from being banged around in it's travels. First and my last diversion can. The label did come off cleanly with some coaxing.

This is my second Suave Safe and I recommend it for concealing cash and valuables while traveling. Looks exactly like an actual hairspray can I keep in the bathroom. It's a large size, so it may seem a little weird to travel with, but I toss it in with my other toiletries and it has never been detected or commented on. And because it is of a larger size, it holds more. I love mine and never leave home without it.

This is a good diversion tactic. I used it to hide my retroviral medications. It’s more like a middle school kid’s arts and craft project. Looks like something you could make yourself, but it does it job. My biggest problem was the “diversion safe sticker” over the original barcode- a dead giveaway that even though this looks like hairspray, it’s not.

Some are saying it’s too big and it cut their hands to open. Hairsprays come in all kinds of sizes and this one is not unusual sized at all. Also it’s metal and is made from the original product.. it may have sharp edges but that’s why you read the reviews. Obviously this product wasn’t made to be used by kids and isn’t child proof. Handle it carefully and it will suit you well.

Received this the other day, it looks exactly like the real thing because the can IS the same as you'd buy at the store. It is hilarious, the bottom unscrews and you can put things inside.My one gripe is that it is way too light - you can tell it is empty. So, I decided to add weight to the middle. I took a 'snack size' ziplock bag, filled it about 1/2 full with some small pebbles I had in a bag, then wrapped bubble wrap around it and stuffed it in the can. There is still room in the bottom for some cash, folded over. Now it is more realistically weighted, and you can't hear the rocks if you shake it. It feels and looks totally real. Cool. My wife just looked at it and thought I was crazy - but I'd rather be prepared than wish I was.
