The Quieting: A Novel

Excellent character building
The Quieting is the second book in The Bishop’s Family series by Suzanne Woods Fisher. Having read all three books, I’d have to say that I enjoyed this one a little less than The Imposter. I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy the book because I still give it a solid 4 stars but I really wanted to see more of Katrina, David and Birdy’s story. I really enjoyed Gabby’s (David’s niece) story but felt that it would have been nice to read her story separate from The Bishop’s Family series. As always, Ms. Fisher does an excellent job with character building. They are always very well-developed and unique. The spiritual applications and the wonderful emphasis on scripture are something I always appreciate about Suzanne Woods Fisher’s books. It could be repeated over and over, this author knows her scripture and applies it beautifully to her character’s life applications. If you’re a fan of Amish fiction with a heavy emphasis on biblical principles, this is an author to sit up and take notice of.Overall I give this book a solid 4 stars while I would give the series as a whole a 4.5. Again, I’d have loved to seen the development of Katrina and Andy’s story explored more in this book but it was still a very good read. These are memorable characters that I will be sure to revisit in the future.

A joy not to be missed!
This is a wonderful continuation of the story of Bishop David Stolzfus, his six children, and the Stoney Ridge Amish community and church. David's meddlesome mother, Tillie Yoder Stolzfus, arrives to straighten out, fix and advise everyone and everything. She brings two of her granddaughters, Abigail and Laura, to assist her. Tillie also has matchmaking plans in store for various family members. David's developing relationship with Birdy is stymied by growing family tensions between the Stolzfuses and the Glicks. Also, there is a tantalizing genealogical mystery that Abigail is determined to solve. This book is chock full of interesting characters, compelling stories, and God's steadfast love and abiding wisdom.

The Quieting
This is five star book. If you've read The Imposter first it's fun to catch up with everyone plus meet the new family members. Poor David has his mother come visit and she's on a mission to "fix him." Not to mention the many family members who need fixin to boot! She is a force to be reckoned with. Then a tender story about David's niece Abigail who meets Dane a horse trainer. Abigail has a difficult task to trace Danes family tree back. Thus things are set in motion for love. Abigail just doesn't understand the way this happens. Birds is one of my favorite characters. Good, kind ,longsuffering, patient and kind. She finds the good in possibly everything. And she adores David. Guess his light bulb took long enough but he is catching on.... This book ended to soon SWF I wanted them to have Christmas dinner?😊Can't wait for the next book.

Enjoyable
What I like about Suzanne Woods Fisher is her ability to bring out the humor and humanness in her stories. Even though the reader may not be Amish, one can relate 100% to the characters in Ms. Woods stories. This is the second in a series and although it is a stand alone story, I recommend that you read 'The Impostor' first. Great story lines and both books were very original and enjoyable.

Very Grabbing !
This book is much more settled than book one! It has vignettes of book one and fills in any details you missed in Book 1. You can read of the growth of the characters. If you picked one character as the one you found most interesting, they are going to grow more dear to you in Book 2. This family is really caring and loving and never uninteresting. Well written! Anyone from 16 to 116 will enjoy this book and the series.

Another great book y Suzanne Woods Fisher!!
Step back into Stoney Ridge. In this second book you'll fall in love with old and new characters. Suzanne writes beautiful Amish stories that touch your heart and she touches areas in your life that need to be healed.I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Another joyous funny story
Suzanne created such full and believable characters that the stories, and there are many in each book, fly along at an even pace but ends much too quickly. I want to read more about every character, especially Abigail. I laughed out loud at several points in this book as in her others. This book was a pleasure to read.

I love Ms. Fisher's books and she never fails to keep me entertained and hating to put the book down until finished. Her story lines are always interesting and inviting to a simpler time of life which appeals to me in many ways. Thanks again for a great read.
