An adult male Newfies average weight is close to 150lbs and I don’t like him always laying such a hard surface. Later in life the hard surface could take a toll on him. I took this mat and place it on his soft bed and it works great. It actually is cool for him to lay on it. I wish it was bigger but I knew the size when I purchased it. He has taken to the cool bed immediately and prefers it over the hard surface. I think it a great purchase and well worth the money. Initially, I had to lure the Huskies on it to try it. For a couple of days they seemed to like it, but now they ignore it. Maybe it is because they can lay on tile or wood for a cool surface, but the mat is cushy. Unfortunately, the Huskies won't tell me exactly why they don't like it. It does seem to have a sturdy & easily cleanable outer cover.One odd thing, it was "run over" by racing Huskies one day some weeks ago and the inside got squished to one end. It is still not laying flat. I have not been able to readjust the filling to be flat.

This is Great!! I didn't use it for a dog,,,I used it for Me for my hot flashes during the night!!It is Dry, so i can just leave it on my bed at night,,and touch it or lay on it as I need to!!Thanks for such an Awesome solution to my Hot Flashes!! you should advertise it for that PurposeAlso!!

I was a little apprehensive about buying this cooling mat on-line since I wasn't familiar with the concept of a cooling mat for dogs. After reading the reviews I felt more confident about it and ordered one for my shih-tzu who loves to be outside but really minds the heat. IT WORKS GREAT. The gel inside makes it feel cool and comfortable. I bring it inside when not in use to ensure its ready when needed. Here in the East we're currently experiencing an extended heat wave of 90+ degree temperatures so it understandably heats up if left outdoors. This is a quality product that does what it states it will do. Don't hesitate, buy one for your fur baby today.

I like it but my dog is lukewarm, if you will forgive the pun. Although it is 100 degrees, she really only puts head and shoulders on it. She doesn't avoid it, just doesn't seem to really love it. I think it is the slick plastic surface that she doesn't care for. So sorry, I wish she loved it. But she half uses it, so I'm not going to return it.

My Daisy-girl wouldn't lay on it at first, so I thought I had wasted my money, but I slipped a pillow-case over it (it's very slippery) and now she lays on it all the time. It does provide comfort for her in these warmer months.

I have two monsters (45lbs and 75lbs) and they both love these mats. After we've been on a long walk or playing outside and they are tired or hot, they love laying on these to cool down. They definitely work!

I read the reviews and had realistic expectations, which were met My dog and I live in Savannah, Georgia, where it is HOT in the summer. He goes to this mat after being outside and seems to get relief from the heat. Please note that this mat does, eventually, warm up (which makes sense considering the design).
