I don't have experience with military tools, so I cannot compare this to the genuine article.To assemble, you unfold the handle and fold the head into the desired orientation. Twist the neck piece until the handle and head are locked.Upon receiving this, I went to clear a 2-foot tall pile of packed, icy snow that was blocking my driveway. I had the tool locked firmly, but the tool couldn't hold up after heavy strikes to the packed snow too well. After a few hits, the head starts to loosen, and you need to re-tighten the neckpiece again.It worked for what I needed it for, but I doubt its ability to stand up to any heavy-duty work in the long term. For moving snow and soft dirt in the shovel configuration without heavy impact, it works well. I don't feel comfortable relying on this to dig my car out of an ice pile during blizzards, so I will keep this tool at home and buy something more durable for the car.

I ordered the large, which turned out perfect for what I'm going to use it for. Seems really sturdy. Screws holding it together are solid metal, as are the rest of the shovel components. I'll be using this as a tool for my dutch oven while camping. The spade was sturdy enough to pick up my 12inch cast iron dutch oven by the handle and move it. I will have to wait and see how well the shovel withstands moving hot embers from the campfire to cook with, but I don't see any issue. Great tool overall.

Purchased the large size. It's still quite small and manageable, collapsing into a small size and fitting into a well made, sturdy canvass bag, it fits nicely into my car's small trunk without taking up much room yet is there when I need it. Having used it twice already in our tough Midwestern ice and snow this year I like its versatility with a shovel to dig and move snow on one end and a pick to break ice on the other. It can be used "flat" like a conventional shove or at a 90 degree angle like a hoe. It has a serrated side that can be used like a small saw, which I appreciate but have not yet needed.

After shopping around for a week looking for a heavy duty and foldable shovel, I found this amazing product Minals Mark Shovel and ordered immediately the large size. I love love love this product. It is heavy duty, very portable and easy to handle. I like the design and with the size (Large size), it is very convenient to carry around or hide it in the car for emergency.Actually, after this one purchase, I ordered again for 4 more shovels for my give away to my family and friends.Minals Mark has a good customer service and delivered my Shovels in good condition and on time as promised.I honestly recommended this product to my friends and family.

Note that the 5 star reviews are putting statements at the end of their comments claiming that they got a discount for their "unbiased" reviews.Don't buy this shovel. There are far better E-tool shovels of this kind on the market. Given that somebodies life may depend on this shovel I highly recommend buying the real military issue E-tool.This Mineral Mike's shovel is nowhere near military grade quality. The first time I tried this shovel it was on loose clay in a stream and it bent within 2-3 scoops. I was able to easily bend the shovel back using just my hands. I own a NATO E-tool and I have plenty of experience with these tools. I would not trust this Mineral Mark's shovel in the wilderness at all. This shovel may be ok for digging loose snow if your vehicle gets stuck but dont count on it.The pouch is flimsy and rips very easily. Mine already had a hole in the material when I took it out of the box.Amazone needs to seriously review its policy regarding bribes for biased reviews. Even more so with tools that lives may depend on in emergency situations.

*UPDATE* Have taken this out on multiple camping trips and this shovel is AWESOME! It can take a beating and have seen no signs of rust or damage. A few scraps and sctartches but this thing is great. Changing my original 4 stars to 5 stars!Not a bad shovel. I have used it with very light work and it seems to hold up nice. For the price you can't beat it. Nice addition to my bug out bag. I will update later when I take it out on a nice 3 day backpacking trip. I would recommend this product to my friends and family.

What an excellent product. Quality product in here. The design is perfect. I love to use umbrella in the sand of the beach while chilling. This shovel makes it possible cause without is almost imposible doing it right. I can make deep holes in the beach sand without problem. This can work too for camping tents and other similar stuff like that and the low price makes it worth it. It feels sturdy too while using it. And the size is just perfect for convenience both being folded and all open ready to use.

Great shovel, but I wanted to use this for hiking however it is way to heavy.It works as intended and it a great quality. You can use your foot just like a big shovel to help dig in deep.I bought the larger version and it is bigger them most of these type shovels.
