VERY good light quality (true 365nm, no overspill to visible) and GOOD Lens
This is a solidly made, nicely presented device looking a bit like a "Sherlock Holmes" magnifying glass, but with a thicker rim studded by a number of 365nm UV LEDs. A dark visible light filter covers the LED ring, so that when switched on, the only visible light emitting from the device are any specs of dust sitting on the filter. Of course, DO NOT LOOK INTO THE "BALCK LIGHT" directly - the UV is strong, and bad for your eyes. Always be sure to wear appropriate UV safety eyewear. In its intended us - examining your skin or other items at close range and under 365nm UV radation, this device is powerful enough to make the fluorescent items (from computer paper to price labels, and way more!) glow brightly across an entire room. And it is wonderful for checking Currency, Passports and many other "Secure" documents for authenticity.Very nicely made, and works perfectly.

Much More Useful Than It Appears
Review for MAINENG Wood Lamp Skin Analysis, Woods UV Light 365nm LED BlacklightI started using UV lamps a few years ago for various different things such as revealing details standard illumination light cannot reveal. The lamp is powered from a built in rechargeable battery (charger included). UV lamps such as this can reveal a hidden world such as stresses and fractures, or spills or staining that a normal light wouldn't highlight. The great thing that this lamp has is the magnifying capability, useful for say the skin analysis that I am starting to explore and understand.

Very useful for monitoring skin, a good quality wood lamp
A few years ago my wife had an unusual mole on her shoulder, and after a visit to the doctor it turned out to be a melanoma. Fortunately it was removed successfully and after several years of hospital checks we now have to carry out six monthly skin inspections at home. We're not skilled enough to use a dermascope but having discovered what a Wood Lamp is (basically an ultraviolet lamp invented by Robert Wood over a hundred years ago) this looked like an easier to use alternative. It's a very simple device, a fairly heavy magnifying glass with UV light built in. A single button turns the lamp on and off, an 18650 battery provides the power and a 5X lens the magnification. It's simple to operate and best used in low light conditions. The UV light shows up anything unusual, though this includes material fibres and residue of creams and lotions. It can also be used to show urine or other stains on furniture and in bathrooms, for example. We've already made use of this checking moles and blemishes, and whilst it won't be used on a daily basis, it's a very useful addition to our medical equipment, as important as our blood pressure monitor and electronic thermometer.Whilst not cheap, this is a high quality device that appears to be very well made, and for anyone with any kind of skin issue it is well worth the investment.

Staring through the looking glass may cause you to itch ....
This is one of those things you either need, due to one reason or another, or you don’t need but think it might come in handy at some point, for what ever reasons you might think …It looks like a huge magnifying glass, which it is really, only this one has a UV light ring surrounding the magnifying glass which lights up a good area. It’s about 205mm log with an 85mm ring light housing a 50mm magnifying glass. The handle is a good 120mm long, 25mm in diameter. It’s simple to use, although a little more confusing when knowing what you’re looking at under the light. It shows up many things, not just the state of your skin. It shows up any water damage on walls, dust and dead skin and much, much more.To use it you just press the button and hold the light/glass about 10cm above the area you’re scanning. When the blue lightThe battery slots into the bottom of the device and is rechargeable using the supplied lead. It takes a few hours to charge and a full charge will last quite some time, unless you use it 24/7.In all, if you want to look at your skin, even if it’s just out of curiosity. Or maybe look at the hidden dust and muck around your home, or desk, (My keyboard was speckled with blue dots which I’m hoping is dust) then this is worth thinking of.

Expensive but good quality UV lamp
This Wood UV Lamp is supplied in a branded box along with the rechargeable battery in a separate case, a charger, warranty card and instructions. It is quite heavy and made of alloy with a black anodised finish. You need to unscrew the back and insert the rechargeable battery before use but it then can be charged without taking it out again. The lamp has a UV light ring surrounding a 5 X magnifying glass which lights up a good area and is quite clear even in daylight. The light can be used to highlight skin conditions on yourself or pets, as well as dirt or contamination around the house. To use it, press the on/off switch and hold the lamp about 10cm above the area you’re examining. The UV light will them illuminate any flaws for you to examine. The light looks quite dim but actually highlights the area well. The magnifying glass is clear and helps highlight what you are looking at.The battery slots into the bottom of the device and is rechargeable using the supplied lead. This is quite a serious tool with a price to match. You can buy simple UV lights much cheaper that are fine for highlighting dirt and grime around the house but if you are more interested in proper analysis of skin conditions for you or your pets then that is where this justifies it's cost.
