Using this on an IDE 40-pin DOM in a vintage laptop - it fits perfectly and was easy to install without bending any pins. Performs exactly as it should, and made of good materials and -the best part - has quality soldering. Many times cheap adapters like this are sloppy and don't work or quit after a short time, almost always due to poor soldering. This one is just right, and a pretty good price too. Highly recommended.

I have a flash disk module meant for an embedded PC with a female 44-pin mini IDE connector. The fact it has a female connector means that, on its own, it won't connect to a USB-to-mini-IDE converter, because those require a male header (as is typically found on laptop IDE drives).However, this male-to-male adapter let me do it. I plugged one end of the adapter into the flash module and plugged the other end into my USB-to-mini-IDE converter. Using this setup I was able to recover data from the flash module.The adapter has 2 features designed to ensure it is plugged in correctly. 1., There is a missing pin on the male side that lines up with a blocked hole on the female side. And 2., There is a tab extending from the top of the female connector that lines up with a notch in the shroud around the male connector.Feature #1 came into play when connecting the adapter to my USB converter, and feature #2 came into play when connecting the adapter to the flash module. This made connecting things up completely foolproof. I'm lucky that this adapter, and my USB converter, and the flash module were all standard enough that the above features worked as intended and no hackery was required to make things fit.The adapter seems well made. Connections on both sides feel secure. Overall, I'm 100% satisfied.

I totally ordered the wrong thing, i needed a full size ide adapter, but nonetheless the construction seems quite solid, be aware this is a 44 pin (43+ 1 empty), not a 40 pin. And it is for smaller ide drives, not the larger ones. I misread the description but was sent exactly what is described. It looks great and is nice and sturdy. Sorry i can't test it out
