Be careful of the bluish halation on white surfaces and fabrics
So i thought of buying this to save over tiffen black pro mist , cinebloom, and other diffusing filters around which has been the hype in this 2020-2021. This k&f filter is a knock off from china, it is cheaper when you buy it in ali or ebay , but in whole hearted reason this item should be avoided at all cost. Unless you're shooting in other than white surface - say colored light source, you should be fine. but anything neutral in outdoors, like your client or bride wears white fabric, it will give a blue-purplish halation. this seem to be accentuated by the lens and camera you use - it shows up in a canon 85 1.8 and 5dm4, but not in sony a73 and sigma lenses. keep in mind that this blue halation is removeable in post but with compromises , probably very hard to remove in video but in lightroom it's a matter of few clicks. u've been warned.

Different than expected (and other black mist filters)
MRC coating on this is quite poor; got lots of flare and haze from reflections, which are especially problematic with a mist filter; you can't push the contrast up the way you usually would, as it ruins the mist effect. Look at the top right on my attached photo, at the top of the tree.Additionally, the mist effect is different than other black mist filters I've used, and not in a good way. The suspended particles are a lot larger, even in the 1/4 filter, and are easily visible to the eye. In practice, this resulted in a less appealing bloom effect than the Hoya and Tiffen filters I've used. I suspect the larger particles are causing a lot more refraction, which is what's causing the haze. For the price, they're not unusable, but I would recommend paying more for one from Tiffen or Hoya.

Worth it for sure.
So far so good. It adds the right amount of haze for portraits to make it's stylistic. It doesn't add too much in my opinion, and the picture is still pretty sharp.I included a test shot below, which I took of a friend of mine in direct sunlight with a star filter and a ND filter as well (with this filter below)

Not Bad but the Black Pro Mist is Better for Me
I have the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II which is a Micro 4/3's camera. As such, the lenses are tiny with less glass to cover, making the price of these filters extremely low. So I bought both this K&F Concept 58mm Black Soft Filter 1/4 and the infamous Black Pro-Mist 1/4 Filter. This is all subjective, but I prefer the look of the Tiffen black pro mist more. The K&F is a bit too bloomy, and the image loses a lot of contrast. That makes the K&F less versatile. Meanwhile, the Tiffen is more balanced, with less bloom and higher contrast. Making it perfectly acceptable for everyday use.Given the low price of this K&F filter, I'll still keep it. But, If I had to choose one, it would undoubtedly be the Tiffen Black Pro Mist filter.

Messes up autofocus sometimes
While a great misty filter, I can sometimes see the black dots in my photos even though the lens, glass, and sensor are cleaned so I know it’s the filter itself. It often messes up my camera’s autofocus as it tries to focus on the spots on the filter. When it all works properly it’s a great filter and makes for some cool looking diffused photos.

Great idea, bad flaring
Love the idea of K&F making a Pro-Mist filter! Except when shooting at night into lights it gets really bad light spots compared to the Tiffens. Can't justify a little less in price for a lot less in value. Hopefully they'll make a version II!

Great soft filter for that softer dreamy look
Really nice quality filter, comparable to more expensive brands. Has that black pro mist look. Softens things and gives lights a bit of glow. The he 1/4 does enough but id be curious to play with the stronger versions too.

Excellent quality
I have watched different films noticing the use of diffusers. I really did a lot of comparing black matt filters. This one is perfect. I get the softening without it being noticeable. This is really a high quality filter. I am very happy with it.

I love this filter!
You can see from the images, this makes your image more cinematic, it does add a bit of a soft touch to your images. This filter paired with my Sony A7S III and 24-105mm F4, gives me a whole new perspective! So happy with this purchase!

Supplier sent wrong filter size
Product sent by supplier was wrong, ordered a 77mm and I received a 82mm, I've had to purchase an additional Step Down ring to convert it as I can't return as it'll take too much time. Other than that, I've played around with the filter already and it's a lot of fun and I'm excited to use it in upcoming projects.

Also beim Kauf aufpassen, dass man keine Ausschussware bekommt. Deswegen nur 2 Sterne.
