Great product
Given as birthday gift for grandmother and she was incredibly pleased. You can't find 4.0 in stores and you can online!

I don't like the term punishment as used in the book, but otherwise it's very good.

could be more positive
I really wish this book showed positive or alternative behaviors to contrast with the negative. It shows a lot of disobedient behavior but no good ones. This book sounds preachy or like a lecture, but my daughter has still responded to the book. It helps put into words why time outs or having privileges taken away is necessary. Since its the book saying it and not me, my daughter takes it in better. This should not be your one abd only book on good behavior. There are some great ones from Julia cook which show more positive ways for kids to handle situations and use self control.

The book is much nicer in hardcover. I saw it at my doctors office and tried for months to get it from the scholastic company so my granddaughter's class would get credit. But that never worked out. I didn't think she would listen when I read it to her but she loves to be read to and she listened.

Great series
This is a great book in a great series. These books help children to learn that certain behaviors are wrong and encourages them to grow to be good people.

Accentuate the Negative
I won't lie. My 4 year old really likes this book, but as a conscientious parent it rubs me the wrong way. Its so negative. The interaction between parents and adults, implicit and explicit, is more in the vein of guilt and shame than anything that, as a parent, feels good. The weirdest part is that every page is either contentious or condescending and then literally out of the blue, on the very last page, there are hearts and hugs, which is completely incongruous to the entire book.I'm even more blown away that this is one of a VERY large series of books that includes topics like "Bad Sport," "Being Bossy," "Being Greedy," "Being Lazy," "Cheating," "Complaining," "Snooping," "Stealing," "Throwing Tantrums," and "Whining." Each topic is an entire book, and this is not an exhaustive list.I read on Amazon that the author has sold over 85 MILLION (!!!) books, which I find unfathomable, but it just goes to show, people are generally more negative in their outlook and tend to buy things that reinforce their point of view. Not, "How am I doing as a parent?" But, let's find a book that talks about how my child disobeys, as though that is something unnatural for a 4 year old, or any child for that matter. In conclusion, this book and probably the series as a whole, takes the natural characteristics of children, human nature, and paints it in a way that makes it wrong. Guilt, shame, contention. No thanks.

We have most of Joy Berry's books and love them
We have most of Joy Berry's books and love them. These books are timeless and are great at teaching EQ skills to children. They are written in a matter of fact way that talks about how actions affect other people and their natural consequences.
