excited to give this as a gift
I purchased this during post-Christmas markdowns and have tucked it away in the closet as a gift for a favorite toddler for next Christmas. It is a beautiful set and I think it makes a perfect gift. It's a fun toy and when it is outgrown as a toy, it can be put away for use as a Christmas decoration for years to come. For all those reasons it gets 5 stars.I love that it is packaged in a white "shipper box." I think all toys ought to have this option. Most toys are packaged to look good on a shelf and when they are not being played with there is no way to store them. I hate flimsy boxes for toys. Families like to save toys from one child to the next or for cousins or even the next generation. For that purpose, sturdier boxes are most helpful. As much as I love this toy, I really wish the designers would do a little research into the background of the story and make some adjustments. The Bible story the set is based on talks about shepherds (with an S)-- more than one. But this set only comes with one shepherd. NOT COOL. And the Bible also talks about the "multitude of heavenly the heavenly host"--meaning lots of angels-- not just one. There needs to be a whole bunch of angels and lots of shepherds. I know the company sells add-on sets with additional animals and fences and rocks and another shepherd or two. But that's still pretty stupid. Creative kids can come up with their own rocks and there is nothing about the story to indicate that there were fences. Shepherds back then herded their animals together and kept them close without fences. But you really ought to be able to buy more angels and more shepherds--maybe even a couple more camels.Overall a great set but Fisher Price needs to do a little biblical research if they are going to create a playset based on the Bible.

Just as I remember...
The Little People Nativity Playset is just as adorable as I remember. I bought a set a few years ago for my older grandchildren and it was time to buy one for their cousins. It is terrific! The oldest cousin (age 11) took the youngest two and unwrapped the figures as she told the timeless story of the birth of Jesus Christ. it was a special time in our house after Thanksgiving dinner. Highly recommend for young children to play with and learn about the Nativity. Push the angel and hear "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and light up the star! Have batteries on hand (3 double A) as they are not included. All the characters are represented except for a separate shepherd. I guess Joseph plays a dual role. There are several animals (camel, donkey, sheep, cow) and a wagon with produce. The stable has three parts that can be manipulated into several configurations or to made to fit the space available.

Adorable and colorful Nativity set, great for families and collectors
I actually purchased this for my mother as a birthday present -- she collects Nativity sets, and she had her eye on the Fisher Price version for some time. And who can blame her? It's an adorable set, cute and colorful, and has the added bonus of being kid-friendly for when the grand-kids visit and want to re-enact the Nativity story for themselves. The pieces are well-made, cute and sturdy, and with bright colors and metallic accents. The fence pieces snap nicely into place on the stable itself or can stand alone, and the cart fixes nicely to the donkey's back. The angel can either stand alone or perch atop the stable, and there's even a button to make the star above the manger light up and play a verse from "Away In a Manger."The only downside to this set is that it doesn't come with the shepherds -- it has the Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, Jesus), an angel, four stable animals (donkey, cow, sheep, camel), and three Wise Men. Shepherds apparently can be purchased separately, as a "booster pack" of sorts. An adorable and kid-friendly Nativity set, one that my mother loves and that I find a cute decoration for the holidays as well. Perfect for families.

Playable Nativity - no worries about getting broken!
I saw this at a friends home and loved that it was a nativity that children could have a hands-on experience with. I wanted to find it for my own children and grandchildren - we know Fisher Price toys last and last. I was so happy when I found it online.Children are naturally curious and love to look at and touch these beautiful nativities set up at Christmas. With this set, there is no reason for adults forbidding them to do so. This set gives them permission to look at and hold and play with the baby Jesus, the camel, wise men, etc. and it's all okay. They can even depict the story in their imaginations. I love this. There are also additional sets that are, in my opinion, companion or expansions to this set. I'm considering them as future purchases and additions to my set.A Giant Thanks to Fisher Price for creating this set for our children to be able to reinforce, learn and love the true story of our Savior's birth through their favorite activity - Play!

Perfect pre-christmas time gift for ages 1 and up!
My child has been obsessed with this set since day 1 and we are about 10 days in from purchasing this product originally, and my child is still just as obsessed! 5 out of 5, 10 out of 10, 1 million percent, A+, ect. This is a great buy for any family who is looking for the perfect nativity set for the Christmas time. I usually have a village set up (definitely not toddler friendly) and I bought my child this set hoping it would deter them playing with mine. And it's worked! If I had anything negative to say about this set, is I wish it came with a Shepherd to go with the sheep but it's really not that big of a deal. Also the song is really cute and my child literally stops what they are doing to dance lol it's so cute and I'm so happy with my purchase!

Great Nativity, Perfect to let little kids play with
I have a lot of nativities, most of which are very fragile. This is a prefect nativity for kids. It is made from the same material as regular fisher price toys, so it is designed to take some abuse. I usually find some pieces that end up in the toybox after Christmas, but still set this one up every year.
