It helps protect your face from those little annoyances. Do you find yourself in dusty/dirty environments? This will block the dusty smell or keep the dirt out of your mouth/nose. Do you tune your own car? Now theres no need to worry about stuff getting on your face. It can be used to catch sweat in several different positions. And in the off-chance that you ride a motorcycle, it can be used as a half mask.

The products are not domestic, but the company Indie Ridge is in the USA. Aside from homemade stuff, I would highly doubt you will find any neck gaiters that are made in the US. Most, if not almost all, textiles these days are outside the US.

How well does it keep your neck warm?

It keeps it somewhat warm. The primary purpose is to keep dust out of your mouth--mowing, biking, Burning Man Festival, etc... It is comfortable and stays in place. I've used it for all of the previous. Good luck.
