For backpacking and camping, these work very well. I stored a variety of snacks in a couple of these, and used another bag to collect wrappers and other trash generated during a three-night hiking excursion in bear country. While we also used bear canisters, I experimented with a separate stash of aromatic food and trash to see how well the "odor prevention" claims held up. The Snifflock bags passed the test -- no critters discovered the stash a few hundred feet away from our campsite. FYI -- it wasn't hidden or buried, just weighted down with a rock. Also, for belt-and-suspenders protection, I wrapped several of these Snifflock bags in a two-gallon OdorNo trash can liner and sealed it with a rubber band. Total success! No raiding of the stash by mice, marmots or other mammals.Two other quick points: (1) The seal on the Snifflock bags is strong. I packed some dry food and tea bags in a couple of these while at home, then stored them in my luggage. At higher elevations (above 8,000 feet) I noticed the sealed bags had expanded because of the lower air pressure outside. NOTE: I suppose it is possible the bag could rupture or the seal might fail if you forget to squeeze out excess air before sealing the bags, but I didn't experience that issue. Also, other reviewers are correct about the little blue tabs on the seals -- they are superfluous and come off easily. (2) I am slightly skeptical of the one-gallon capacity rating. The bags are thick and sturdy, and much more confidence-inspiring than Z--loc bags or the generic equivalents. However, I didn't test the volume with anything super-challenging like a gallon of hot tomato soup. You can try that experiment and let the rest of us know how it turns out.

Sealing slider breaks off immediately on the bags, and they all say snifflock all over them, not very inconspicoucus...

Nothing what it sounds or seems like. You're better off getting normal glad zip loc bags from the grocery store.

I bought these bags locally and have not had any problems. Tested them out and they work great. Smell is completely contained. I was a little concerned when seeing the only review on amazon said the slider broke off immediately but the slider is actually not a requirement and is removable. Its only functionality is to give you a smooth, easy seal and is meant to be removable in case you don't want to use it. Greta bags and a good price as well.
