Hotshot: Dang right it is!
I have a boneyard of bicycle tail lights strewn around my garage. I commute year round in Central Oregon, 45 minutes each way. In the winter months, when the sun comes up around 8:30 AM, and goes down by 4:15 PM, that means I'm riding in the dark, coming and going. Though I choose my route carefully, there are a couple of "tight spots" along the way where I really want to be seen. During the last year or so, a variety of truly bright tail lights have come out, visible during daylight hours from quite a distance. The Cygolite Hotshot 2-Watt USB, in my mind, is the best.Is there a noticeable difference between a 2 watt LED and a single watt? My wife, who overtakes me in her car on the way to work, says "YES!". She notes that the Cygolite is easily the brightest tail light I've ever used. What's to like? Easily detachable/attachable. Multiple modes. Very long life on a single charge, well over 24 hours even at the brightest setting. Gotta love the USB rechargeable battery: at the end of my work week, I pop the light off my bike, charge it (2-3 hours), pop it back on, good to go for at least another week. No prying covers off, no batteries to dispose of.What's less to like? If you belong to a group of night riders, you'll have to tone down: this light is obnoxiously bright even to some cars, much less to a fellow rider right behind you. The light intensity, in fairness, is very adjustable. Mode selection is easy, adjusting the intensity of the light took me a bit of practice, and cost me a bit of frustration.I've been using this light for five months. I'm loving its ease of use. I'm loving that it's so bright that cars often give me far more room than I need to feel safe. It's high daytime visibility is a real plus on my recumbent. This item is a winner that has made my half dozen other tail lights obsolete. Job well done, Cygolite.

Very good light
I take long bike rides (up to 60 miles) and tour occasionally. I always use bright front and rear flashing lights when I ride. They make me very visible. More than once, they have helped prevent an accident. My rear light started turning itself off while I was riding, and turning itself on while my bike was parked. The old light used AAA batteries. I used Eneloop rechargeables, which gave excellent service. I felt the requirement to disassemble the light frequently to change batteries was one of the reasons the power switch became unreliable over time. I was intrigued by the Cygolite because I can plug it in for charging while the bike is parked. Once mounted to the bike, it can stay there. The issue for me is battery life. Cygolite advertises 4.5 to 500 hours. When I'm on tour, I don't always have access to power. I want to be able to ride 2 or 3 days without recharging. When I got the light, I charged it, then started riding, keeping track of my hours. I did not adjust the OSP feature (which can dim the light) and used the last flash before the steady mode. The battery lasted over 27 hours. That's more than 3 days of riding for me, and it's plenty. The light is well built and appears to be sturdy. It is quite bright and is easily visible in even very bright sunlight. The light remembers the mode setting. This makes it easy to turn on and off. It turns on in the flash mode I like, prevents multiple presses. I like the fact that the charging cable uses the mini USB connector, which is more rugged than the micro connector popular on smart phones. Cygolite advertises the light is rain proof. I haven't been in the rain with this light yet, but the cover for the charging port is finicky and is a weak point. I might come back and update this review at the end of the season.I attach my rear light to a rack. Cygolite does not include a rack mount, but it is available for a very reasonable price from their web site. Their rack mount looks similar to the mount used by Planet Bike and Portland Design Works, but they aren't compatible. If you already have one of the other rack mounts, you will need to buy a new one for the Cygolite.Overall, I am very pleased with this light so far.

Small but mighty
This light is great for day/ night riding. The mounts are easy to install and durable. The size is small could be a little bigger in my opinion but the light it produces is unmatched. It’s very easy to turn on and off/ adjust. The only thing I wish was better was the battery life. I have to charge it every week where my previous tail lights that wasn’t the case. All in all it’s great!

Batería resistente; e intensidad de luz perfecta.
Excelente luz trasera. Totalmente recomendable.
