Bob van Asperen's recording of Handel's Organ Concertos Op.7 is the newest addition to the Veritas x2 series. Veritas x2 is a series from Virgin Classics devoted to landmark recordings of early Baroque music. Handel's Organ Concertos contain six organ concertos for organ and orchestra. They were written for performance during Handel's oratorios and contain almost entirely original material. Bob van Asperen leads the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in this recording.

THIS THE RECORDING TO HAVE FOR THESE WORKS
Well there are many recordings of the entire Opus 7. I've had the Opus 4 for some time by the same performers and finally got around to buying this. You won't find better. Never mind the period instrument category these belong to. Entirely appropriate for the pieces and not in any way too much. Notes are fine but not specific to each concerto. Two CDs in a case the same width as a single CD. Pretty standard unless booklet requires more space-see opera.

Divertissants.
George Frideric Händel (1685-1759) Concertos pour orgue Op.7/Orchestra of the age of enlightenment.Bob van Asperen Destinés à être joués pendant les entractes des grandes œuvres chorales (oratorios), ces 12 concertos pleins de légèreté donnent l’impression d’être improvisés à l’orgue. Ce qui en fait fut une réalité du temps de Händel qui lui même jouait les sections ad libitum en improvisant. Sans exubérance et sans grandiloquence, ces concertos viennent ravir le mélomane à coup sûr pour un moment de détente, le but de cette musique étant de divertir. Les concertos de l’opus 7 ne furent publiés que deux ans après la mort de Händel soit en 1761.

Haendel : comment ne pas vibrer ?Ces concertos pour orgue sont tout simplement magnifiques.Le CD lui-même est de bonne qualité.

bon rapport qualité/prix!
pour le prix rien à dire.Je préfère toutefois(et de loin) l'interprétation de ces concertos pour orgue de Marie Claire Alain chez Erato.
