consistent readings, easy to use
This little water tester is simple to use, and very nice. It comes with a cute vinyl case, and then you just pop off the plastic probe cover. You use a clean cup or glass that has been rinsed with running water from the source you are testing. You set the pronged part of the probe into the water, about an inch deep. The unit is not waterproof, so don't submerge the whole thing. The digital reading is immediate. We measured the water directly from our tap, and then with a Culligan water filter on the faucet, and then measured the water from our filtered water dispenser in our Whirlpool refrigerator. We had gotten a call from our water utilities company saying that they were increasing the chemicals in our water for this month; not sure why, but this may be related to the hurricane that came through our area this fall. However, I was feeling very concerned about the quality of our water, even though the filtered water tasted fine. Our water from the tap tests at about 200 ppm, and it's about 80 points lower with filtered water. The readings vary slightly with each different water sample. I am also going to use this water tester to see when it is getting to be time to change the water filters. Our son has a different water tester, and he brought his over to compare. His tester came out with almost exactly the same numbers as this one that we are using. Using this water tester was reassuring, and it works consistently, and is easy to use.

Generally good but the temperature sensor responds VERY slowly
I didn't compare any readings with known values, so I can't comment on accuracy. However, the meter is easy to operate and the readings were reasonable for the environments I made them in. The auto shut-off if a good feature to prevent battery drain. The biggest problem is that the temperature sensor responds VERY slowly, and since both conductivity and estimated dissolved solids are adjusted internally for solution temperature, values won't be truly adjusted until the temperature reading is that of the sample solution. My sensor took about 5 minutes to go from 23C to the true sample temperature of 15C. By then the auto-shutoff had activated itself a couple of times. I don't understand why it should take the temperature probe so long to respond. Is my unit defective?

Great product, great service, and an affordable price!
I bought the TDS/EC Meter in order to test the purity of distilled and/or bottled water, both at home and my work environment. The added features of temperature and electric current measurement is very useful as well, and was the reason I chose the TDS/EC over other devices. This product works as advertised, is simple to use, and gives consistent results. The company that makes the TDS/EC, Health Metric, is very proactive and communicative with the buyer, in making sure that you are pleased with the product. I really appreciate that. I received emails from one of the company owners which included PDF files with a more complete instruction on the use and care of the device. Great service from them, and I feel confident that if I run into an issue, or just have questions about other uses of this device, I will be taken care of by them.

Super simple, practical and much needed - for water taste/health.
Comes ready to use - with battery installed - plus for seller . Best used for water : filter, hardness, aquaculture, hydroponics, pools.MY USE: Bought for home / to test the efficiency of a Brita water filter . Been drinking tap water , deemed safe for drinking by the city. Bought a over the counter water filter and wanted to see the difference - if any . A TDS range from 50 to 150 is best for drinking. Pic 5/6 show the readings of 'carbon filter water' and 'tap water'.IN BOX:: Comes with a carry case , and protective cap for electrodes . Dual electrodes measure .pic 4 Illustrated usage manual - with pics . Nice touch. - Would have liked a bit more detail on EC/TDS standards- But they have a website for more info.Easy to change battery - the battery cap slides out easily- and pull the battery . Pic 3 . Battery is CR 2932- easily and cheaply available .TIPS-- keep the liquid below the immersion line , yet above the reading marker . pic 7- always keep the electrode cap on to avoid damaging the prongs.- testing 2 separate liquids , shake off the previous liquid completely bef inserting the tester into a new liquid - this will give accurate readings.hope this helps!

Precise readings, perfect size, light duty only
This TDS meter works as intended. The readings are precise enough. I tried it with water with known ppm values and the readings where within a +/- 5% of the verified TDS. The plastic that covers the LCD is really flimsy... it feels like pushing it lightly with my finger would bend it enough to touch the LCD... overall it works as intended, doesn't feel as cheap as I guessed it might be and definitely is to be used in a household environment... i don't know if it would survive a fall. Good value for the price though.
