Great small Vise
Purchased this vise to have something to slip on to my portable workbench when needed. I was taking on a project to re-grip my golf clubs, and that was the final straw to make this purchase, as I'd had other times where it would've been helpful to have a small vise around. This worked great to hold my clubs (with the use of a shaft clamp so I didn't damage them) while I cut and pulled and pushed to get old grips off and new ones on. Exactly what I needed, and it is small enough for me to take off of my portable workbench and put away, and simple enough to pull out and mount. It was solid the whole way.The only nitpicks were that the little protective sleeves that were provided to sit on the vise arms didn't fit too solidly/neatly.. they were prone to slide off more than I would've wanted, but it was not a huge deal.. also the locking mechanism that locked the vise from rotating wasn't always super secure, but I had to pull/push pretty hard to cause it to rotate un-necessarily.Overall very very happy with this purchase. I got through my club re-gripping thanks to this, and I know I will have plenty of future use for it.

Works well, and it's cute
This vise does everything that I wanted. The rotation feature is much more useful than I had anticipated. Rotation is smooth and the lock is secure. I haven't yet found a need for the small, flat anvil surface on the moveable jaw yet though. The plastic pads for the jaw surfaces are essential if you are doing fine work like jewelry or building models. Those pads don't fit tight, but they are OK and functional. The big D-shaped pad for the bottom of the cast jaws portion won't hold without adhesive. I secured it using double-stick Scotch tape. The circular pad for the screw at the bottom does snap on and stay by itself. If you appreciate well made tools, you will understand what I mean by cute. The cast metal portions are finished well, with no sharp edges on the outside (inside the jaw area where you shouldn't put your fingers does have some sharp edges). Handles and jaw screw are well-finished. Amazon didn't pack it well for shipping. The vise comes in a small cardboard box with no support material inside. Amazon just put that box in a plastic envelope and tossed it onto the concrete some distance from my front door. The vise had slipped through the bottom of its box, but was not damaged. Maybe if you specify that it is a gift Amazon will put it in an outer box.

just what I needed
simple but just what I needed. Sturdy and seems well made. easy to set up. The plastic jaw covers are not perfect and don't sit well but they work and probably not needed in most uses. Very pleased.

It is what it looks like it is - a light duty, low cost vice
I grabbed this to mount on the back of my flat bed truck when I need to file a chainsaw. I knew it was light duty by looking at the photos and the price. I just need something I can toss in the toolbox and bring out when I need to file a saw. I grabbed a return for 20 bucks! It arrived with nothing wrong with it. I tried it out once and it held my 395XP with a 36" bar & chain with no problem. After sharpening the saw, I tossed it back in the toolbox. If this holds up, then it was money well spent. I suppose you could saw, I got a return on my money already, and just the one sharpening for the job I did payed for itself. I was alone and no way could I hold the saw and sharpen it on my own. With that said, it's still exactly what it looks like it is. Don't expect to be able to screw it down super tight and start smacking something in a vice. This is not a "real vice" this is just something to hold something still for you, like a chainsaw bar so you can sharpen the chain for hold a piece of wood so you can clue it together or something like this.If you need a "real vice" this ain't it! If you thought it would be for 20 - 30 bucks, then you're probably a young buck and don't have things figured out just yet lol. A "real vice" for the shop is going to set you back much more than this, OR you might find one at a yard sale or flea market for such prices too. Though those are going to be much heavier an might not want to haul around in a truck all the time, but more for a work bench at home. This is a light duty little holding device, for simple, basic tasks where not much "real man power" for heavy duty, real man jobs need to be done, but light duty, extra hand that a lady could provide you with. For 20 bucks, it is what I expected it to be. If it breaks soon though, just holding a bar for my chainsaw, I'll report back when it fails. Until then, assume it's still holding my chainsaws while I file them. I rated the device for price point. I'll knock stars off, based on how long it lasts. If it lasts as least 6 months for commercial use in my tree service though, I can't knock that. I'd just shell out a few more bucks for a more rugged one. I wanted to try a light duty one first, to see if it's all that's needed for chainsaw sharpening. I suspect it will be. Until you see an update, I've been right.

Not for any real vice work
I was going to give this one star but after re-reading the description, I am putting some of the blame on myself. The key word in the description is "LIGHT" work. If you need a device to just hold something while you paint it or glue it, this will work fine. But if you need a real vice, for a job in which you will need to exert any type of pressure and expect this vice to hold it.. you need to look elsewhere. This "vice" just doesn't have the strength. The big weakness is the 360 rotation part. Exerting any type of force against this will cause it to slip and there is no stop. It will just keep on slipping. So if you are a real man who does real work, skip this item. If you are just a hobbyist looking for a clamp to hold stuff for you while you do delicate work, this will probably work fine. FYI.. it comes with a pair of white women's gloves.. why? I have no idea.

My wife loves her new tool :)
My crafty woman loves this thing lolThis vise was absolutely perfect addition to my wife's crafting desk. No more cursing when she's cutting little wood sticks :) And it pivots, and it's sturdy as heck; once screwed in the clamping power is great. The package was beat to heck when we got it (I blame the fact that it's a heavy metal object loose in a cardboard box, not the Seller. the vise should be trapped in packing, then put in a box. Like a printer.)Solid, versatile, compact yet powerful. And the price was right. I don't even wanna know how much they wanted for this thing at the box store.Very pleased with my purchase.

A nice little vice.
Despite the negative reviews, I have been pleasantly surprised with this little desk vice. Being a more or less unknown brand from China, you never can be sure what you're going to get. Or when for that matter. So after a fair amount of thought, I decided to risk it and ordered the 2.5 inch vice. The first thing to note about this vice is that is a light duty vice. A simple look at it clearly shows that it is in no way suitable as a workshop vice for serious work like sawing wood or anything of that nature. No, this is best suited for lighter crafting type work. It holds light objects in place while you work on them. Some light filing or cutting for modelling or similar activities. The included rubber jaw covers indicate that this is what the manufacturer intends also.Out the box you are immediately are presented with not only the vice, but the included rubber accessories. These take the form of one pair of soft jaw covers and rubber covers for the clamp. I recommend installing all of there straight away before they are lost. There is no point in waiting until you think you need them, because you will, definitely. They are easily removed again if necessary. The next job is to inspect the various metal edges. I found a few small burrs or sharpish edges. A few strokes with a small file took care of those easily enough. The jaws meet nicely. Not perfectly, but we expected that, right? It is close enough unless you are trying to clamp tin foil for some strange reason. They are also removable, which is nice. The slide mechanism works well although it came almost entirely dry and needed lubrication as does the screw. The main screw is tensioned by a spring and washer setup which does make it feel and sound a bit grindy. There is no retention on the slide so it will come off if you keep open the jaws too far. This is nice for maintenance, but could be a problem if you are working and not paying attention. The rotating section likewise needed lubricating and it isn't as smooth as it could be. But it works just fine. Finally I turned my attention to the small anvil. This is probably where it could use the most work if you want to take the time. The construction of the whole body is cast steal and in anvil seemed like wasn't quite ground down properly after casting. It's not bad by any means. But it's not entirely flat either. There was a little cupping in the surface that seems to have been caused by whatever first stage grinding method that was used. The effect is pretty clearly visible and needs some work sanding down to reach proper flatness. But it's not bad as is really. For the price it is pretty good and there is room for touching up these things yourself. Which I would rather be able to do than be stuck with a product that can't be tweaked to how I want it. Being a bare steal surface, the anvil and a few other parts must be kept oiled to prevent rust.In conclusion, I like this little vice quite a lot. I am glad that I took the chance on it. But like all vices, it is designed to do a certain level of work. I am confident that it will perform well as long as it is not abused and overworked. The one thing that failed any sort of quality check was the included gloves. They were too small for an adult and would probably have disintegrated in water. But in fairness we're buying the vice, not the gloves.

Solid little vise
It's solid and 360 degree turn works great I drilled the rubber jaws and push blind rivets to hold them in place it works.
