Perfect for mending a wooden chair

I thought this was a good purchase. Three sizes of dowel. Have used them for multiple tasks, beyond the original reason for purchase. If I run out I would rebuy.

OK, so we've all been there. You're sat on the floor of the room. It's totally empty, except for you, the bare lightbulb hanging from the cord in the middle of the ceiling, the brand new carpet, the smell of fresh paint and the weird spongey underlay stuff the carpet people used, that smells like an embalmed body, and you're surrounded by .... bits. It's about 1am, and you're stripped to your underpants because you've been bending, stretching and pushing for hours... No not like that! Get your mind out of the gutter! You're on step 32 of "Kerschløng", the brand new full-size wardrobe from Ikea. On panel 4b, it says you need 4 wooden dowels into the Z-shaped piece (number 21) to attach it to the long T-shaped bar (number 7), but despite trying to follow the rather condescending instruction on page 1 which showed a human surrounded by carefully arranged pieces (with a green tick) and a messy human, scratching their head surrounded by a jumble of piece (with a red X), you've slowly moved from tick to cross, and are now sitting in, what looks like, the aftermath of an explosion in a cabinet factory. You've looked under all the pieces, behind all the others, and fished the plastic bags out of the bin to see where those little round long wooden plug things have gone, but... nope. You're 3 short. Now, Ikea normally has exquisite quality control. But one fateful night in July this year, it was muggy, hot, and that was me, sitting on the floor of my son's bedroom trying desperately not to peel the fresh paint with my (rather impressive) capacity for swear words (in many languages, including Klingon). I realised that, to continue, I'd have to take half the cupboard apart to fetch out three dowels from somewhere, weakening other joints. Sigh. Luckily, there was this pack on Amazon. I ordered it then and there, and it was delivered the next evening, just in time for me to get back to putting the wardrobe back together again. Perfect. There's three different sizes, which makes it much more likely you'll find one that fits, and the wood is very soft, so you can use a small screwdriver to chip out a bit of one to make it a little smaller if it doesn't quite fit. One or two I had to hammer in and then pluck back out again (due to the ambiguity of the Ikea drawing), and the dowels held together despite being pinched by pliers and squeezed while pulling. Often poor quality dowels will crumble if you do that, especially if they've been sat in a drawer for years. Very pleased with the quantity, quality and range of sizes in this pack. Saved my sanity!

Definitely get what you pay for; they are basic and I easily snapped a couple preparing the shelf. Cheap cheerful dowels. But for the price probably not bad value.

Good quality and selection of dowels -purchased 300 for better value

Wooden dowels were great for repairing door with loose hinges, great selection of different sizes, would have liked more of the smaller sizes though
