Great taste

I cannot eat nuts and have to watch my ingredients carefully due to autoimmune issues. This gives me a tasty, slightly sweet, slightly salty alternative to peanut butter or Nutella. It’s not nearly as sweet as Nutella, but for someone on a very limited eating regimen, this is a treat.

We bought this to try to make homemade uncrustables for my son, who’s autistic and has a limited number of safe foods (one of which being Nutella uncrustables). We needed a nut-free alternative for school. Unfortunately, we found the consistency of this substitute to be very thin and oily and combined with a very noticeable taste difference, he did refuse to eat it. I couldn’t sneak it past my two year old either. I think it’s well worth trying, especially for people who need a nut-free alternative, but it’s just not close enough to the real deal to trick discerning toddlers, as much as I wish it was.

My son loves this sun butter. It has a lot of nutrients and while there is higher sugar content since it also has chocolate, I feel better about him spreading it in muffins, pancakes, etc. all the time vs Nutella or a cookie butter. It’s also an added benefit that it’s sun butter and since his school is peanut/tree nut free, sun butter is about the only spread allowed. You have to mix it up, but it’s easy to spread and taste delicious especially on banana pancakes

It has a lot of oil on top and when you stir it up it gets really liquified . I didn’t really like it . Couldn’t taste much chocolate I it .

I gave it 3 stars as perhaps this is personal taste but at first all you get is strong overpowering chocolate flavor and after a while trying to find the flavor you get a slight after taste of sunflower butter that can't compete with the chocolate. Disappointing. The texture is OK. A little grainy but then again I only took one taste as I wasn't looking for a chocolate spread with a touch of sunflower but at least equal seed flavor. Grainy was my first impression.
