Mass Effect - Andromeda: Nexus Uprising

A great read if you're a fan of the series and especially the new game
An enjoyable prequel story to the video game 'Mass Effect: Andromeda', detailing events on the Nexus station a year or so before the game starts. It's the first in a series of books within the new 'Mass Effect: Andromeda', but you may enjoy it more if you've played the previous games before or have some idea of the worlds of 'Mass Effect', mostly so that you already know the various races and their tense history between some of them. Some of the details of what happens is hinted at by some of the characters in the game, so I'd recommend reading it before playing the game. But with the extra knowledge of events and characters after reading this book, the story might also influence some decisions you make in the game.A decent Sci-Fi read, that's better if you're already a fan of the 'Mass Effect' series.

Meh
Having played and enjoyed Mass Effect Andromeda I was excited to give the book a go.At first the panic of the crash made for a good story. It was engaging and interesting.Somewhere along the line the story got a bit too comfortable and it started to drag. I understand that the slow pace was necessary to illustrate the rising unrest of the crew, but God was it dull. I also felt some of the characters where inconsistent which threw me off. When it started to speed up again towards the end, I found it was too little too late.Whilst I didn't hate this book, it's not one I'm planning on reading again any time soon. It didn't meet my expectations after reading Drew Karpyshyn's ME books. If you enjoyed ME:A and want to know more about some of the secondary characters than go ahead. If you're not too bothered then give it a miss.It also goes without saying that if you haven't played any ME games then don't even bother.

A worthwhile Prequel
This novel is a prequel story to the story of the computer game Mass Effect Andromeda. The novel itself tells the story of the arrival of the nexus ahead of the arks in the Andromeda galaxy and the scourge and uprising that leaves it in the sorry state you find it at the start of the game.Well written and paced and gives you a greater insight into some of the motivations of some of the key NPC's you meet in the game.

Enjoyable
Really enjoyable read and fills in the back story to the game.

Great read but a little tedious by the end
It's a great book packed full of info but it can feel like it's dragging on a little by the end.
