I own several of these chucks and needed one more to reduce time taken for changing jaws, the chuck is fantastic. Never slips, easy to operate, and holds even the largest bowls with confidence.My review is for the seller, Amazon can be very frustrating with promised delivery dates and if things are in stock or not. With this order, the seller was actually briefly out of stock and rather than delaying delivery or canceling the order the seller upgraded the chuck from the Lite version to the Pro and delivered on time. I’ve been using a Nova G3 chuck for around six months, and I’ve largely been very happy with it. However, I recently upgraded from my 10x18 Central Machinery lathe, which has a 1x8 spindle, to a Powermatic with an 1-1/4x8 spindle, which meant my G3 chuck wouldn’t fit the new machine. While I have a thread adapter, I decided to upgrade to the larger Supernova 2 both to accommodate the larger spindle and to handle larger and heavier pieces than the G3 is best for. I considered moving to a Vicmarc, which I’m told is the best wood chuck made, but I already had three sets of jaws and a screw for the G3 that I could use on the Supernova, and the package deal for this chuck, plus the insert, plus a set of 2” jaws, was less than half of what I would have spent on the Vicmark and one set of jaws.Compared to the G3, this chuck is larger, heavier, and uses what I think is a better mechanism for tightening the jaws. The T-handle hex wrench fits more securely, and is a standard tool that can be found in any hardware store. As it uses an insert, rather than a direct thread, it can be adapted to different lathes, which is a plus for beginning turners who will probably move up to larger lathe as they progress. This kit is a good add-on for anyone using a Nova chuck who’d like to have several chucks set up for different work, as jaws can be interchanged between chucks.

My third NOVA due to different headstock threads on different lathes. I do change threaded inserts when working on one lathe and want chucks setup for different function. Thus I may have two or three chucks to use on one lathe. Have used for over 10 years and this review is for the third purchased recently. That alone should tell you want you need to know. Get the different jaws, center screws, etc…. And you will be set up for most projects.

It seems to be an accurate chuck. Just as good or better than my nova g3. At a good price.

Very happy with everything about this chuck.
