If you like suspense with great twists--then this is your movie. A little needlessly violent, but not nearly as graphic as many of today's "suspense" films.

A must have fo Alejandro Amenábar fans. His first feature!

Prompt delivery...and evengot unexpecte e/m from seller in regards to wrong cover image...but I had I had foreseen it was a grapho/typo error. Only the idro quality disillusioned me. The movie/ story itself is fantastic.

Alejandro Amenábar knocks it out of the park with this chilling thriller, chalk full of twists and turns. He'll keep you guessing (and screaming) til the very end.

This is a great film. Everything about it is great from the writing to the acting and production. A horrible series of murders take place. From the moment it begins, you will constantly be guessing who really did it. Just when you think it is one individual, the suspicion quickly turns to another possibility. Great writing. Great acting. Eduardo Noriega simply rocks in this one.

This may well be the most intense thriller I've ever seen. My stomach was in knots.

I'm usually up for this kind a flick. A mystery thriller can and should manipulate it's audience. Give them the right set-up and pepper in all the right clues at all the right times with all the right characters and nail them to the wall in the final act. Though I had some issues with this one it's still a better ride than I've been on in a long time.A female college student is starting a thesis on violence in cinema and TV. Through a few twists and turns she happens on what might be an underground operation to shoot snuff films. Said operation might be right there in the college. Before she knows it she's in over her head and is having a difficult time trying to figure who she can and cannot trust.Overall this is a very cool movie. It offers all the right things in mostly the right measure. You like Anna Torrent who plays the lead, Angela, and wonder what her real interest is in the subject matter. She's inherently beautiful but dresses down. Baggy shirts, baggy pants. She has no boyfriend and seemingly no interest in having one. Here they begin to explore the sex/violence connection. She's drawn to this in a way she might not understand. The two male leads, Chema and Bosco have big question marks over their heads. Are they involved and, if so, how deep? The movie is generally directed well, shot and cut well. The music score is good but a bit derivative at times. This really keeps you going and nearly always makes you re-think what is happening. It also has a very good final scene. It should drive home a point that has been under attack more than once.Where it fails is that there are a few gaps in logic. The police should have been called in much earlier than they were. And, as usual, people do things that are counter-intuitive given the circumstances. It also runs too long. At two hours I was growing impatient. There were simply more twists and turns than there needed to be to get the point across. That being said, this is still one of the better entries into the genre and well worth most any fan's time.If your a fan of this sort of film this should quench your thirst.

Esta ópera prima de Alejandro Amenabar no solo es tortura de a gratis, tiene una trama bien estructurada y el suspenso mantiene al borde del asiento. Y aunque en el departamento del gore está leve, toda en la historia es suficiente para crear terror.Aparte de esta, 8 mm fue otra cinta que abarcó el tema del snuff, aunque en mi opinión no lo realiza de manera extraordinaria como Tesis.Creo que este si es un ‘must’ que todo cinefilo debería -si no tener en su colección- al menos haber visto una vez. Tesis es de las películas que más miedo me dan porque es real, porque que podría ser cualquier persona (novio, amigo, vecino).El Bluray tiene audio en español y subtítulo en inglés.

Buena restauración para una de las películas españolas más importantes de los años 90.

Réalisé en 1996 par l'hispano Chilien Alejandro Amenabar ce film vous tient en haleine de bout en bout. La narration est simple, précise. A tout moment le spectateur est dirigé vers une fausse piste. Le suspens s'intensifie et l'angoisse s'installe. On a hâte de connaître le ou les responsables des meurtres commis sur des jeunes filles face caméra.Il nous faut attendre les dix dernières minutes du film pour enfin connaître la vérité et pour pouvoir souffler.Alejandro Amenabar sait parfaitement diriger ses acteurs (les excellents Ana Torrent, Fele Martinez et Eduardo Noriega). Il sait s'attarder sur leurs visages, sur leurs expressions et sur leurs fortes personnalités.Il y avait bien longtemps que je n'avais pas vu un film d'une telle intensité dramatique.A ne manquer sous aucun prétexte.

The dvd was an older one but still crisp & watchable. This is a horror film about snuff that takes a little time to develop. That's a positive for me as it has a good meaty plot to it. Angela is doing her Thesis on film violence & she is looking for something genuine & 'harder' than the average horror film. Well she meets a horror fan & hits him up to look at his collection. Meanwhile someone has been making students at school disappear & reappear as 'stars'.... you know where this is going....There's a love story thread in this also as Angela is both drawn to & fearful of the men who might be the killer... but that isn't revealed for awhile. An interesting immersive film about snuff containing the necessary (for me) mystery elements. Enjoyable & worth owning.

A truly great movie combining the tension of a horror movie set within a study of films of violence and terror. This is done tastefully without subjecting the viewer to too many gruesome images even whilst portraying "Snuff" scenes. The Characters are magnificently drawn and played. I'm guessing this Blu Ray version is as good as it gets for such an early Amenabar movie.
