Q: How would you compare this to Lauricidin in terms of effectiveness and price? Lauricidin is around $34-38 for 227 gram jar (says 4-6 weeks of supply).

A few months after I first started on monolaurin (this spring) I penciled it out and discovered that the Lauricidin is more cost effective, at least for the large doses I take. As far as effectiveness I cannot compare them, didn't take the monolaurin long enough. If you buy more than one jar of the Lauricidin it is much less expensive. And I had previously found some even less expensive on eBay, but no longer. Good luck!

Q: Is this pure lauric acid?

Hi. I wouldn't say so. I think there is difference between lauric acid and ester of it. wikipedia says: Monolaurin, also known as glycerol monolaurate, glyceryl laurate or 1-Lauroyl-glycerol, is a monoglyceride. It is the mono-ester formed from glycerol and lauric acid. Its chemical formula is C15H30O4.

Q: For folks who have difficulty swallowing large pills, can these be opened and added to smoothies/water?

I see no reason why adding the capsule content to a healthy fruit smoothie would be a problem. I have also actually opened the capsules and applied the powder mixed with coconut oil to wounds, which did seem to help with healing.

Q: Is this product organic? Is it made in the USA?

I just called the company and NO it is not organic. The product is manufactured in Ogden, UT, but the operator was not able to provide the the country or countries of origin for the coconut extract.
