Product worked exactly as advertised! I decided to go for this model as it seemed to be the best deal for the price range. I was originally going to buy one from the “95 series” in spring (~$125 then), but after waiting a bit the need for a scan tool came around again and this “96 series” had just came out. I took a stab in the dark with few reviews and I am very glad I did. The LCD screen is VERY NICE! After using the older Actron scan tools and other various tools over the years, the new LCD screen is a nice change. The battery charging monitor is very useful by checking initial voltage, cranking voltage and running voltage. The ability to see “Freeze Frame” data when a CEL pops up was useful and the ability to graph on the tool (while very basic on this model) could be something someone needs. I used this tool to track down the dreaded “0888 TCM Relay Feedback” error in my wife’s Stratus. By checking voltages, swapping relays and then finally adding a few jumper wires, the tool popped up a different error code which told me which wires were actually working (a hunch I had). I then went back in the car, found the source of the wiring problem with my Multi-Meter, re-wired the relay circuit from the TCM to the relay control center and then the problem was fixed! Probably saved well over $400+ alone on labor just to track it down! Very helpful tool, especially in clearing old error codes out and I was trying things 1 by 1. This tool (for me anyway) connected to the Engine Control Module, Transmission Control Module and SRS Air Bag Module on the following cars: 2004 Dodge Stratus, 2007 Chevy Cobalt and a 2011 Subaru impreza wrx. The tool also connected to the ECM of a 2015 Jeep Latitude. As of a few weeks ago, there was no firmware update for the tool. In addition, for most people, the lack of USB mini cable should not be a big deal. Most people probably have a bunch of these sitting around somewhere for cameras or phones they use or don’t use anymore. Could Actron have included this for the low cost of the cable? Probably… but for me, its not worth a rating deduction. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

This is my third auto scanner (2nd Actron Unit). I have been happy with them all. I purchased this one to obtain more in depth information and live information. I connected the unit to my 2012 Tundra and had no problems navigating the menu and obtaining readings. The unit recognized my truck and produced the VIN without issue. I look forward to troubleshooting my 4Runner with this unit and will update this review with that experience later.
