Q: Are the inside walls of the unit plastic or styrofoam (when you look through the vent)?

My 2021 LG 10,000 BTU has no styrofoam inside. There are some open cell foam strips on the chassis walls to dampen vibration. I don't think they will be an issue.

Q: Is there a lot of condensation drip?

A properly installed unit will only drip outside. If you had issues it was because you did not make sure the unit was level once full installed. The unit is shaped so that if the platform is level it will slope the proper amount. Any unit worth installing will have drip out the back and has hole to allow that.

Q: What is the wattage this unit takes to run? I would only be using this with a 5500 watt generator during hurricane season.

Less than 1000, more efficient than most 12000 BTU units, less than many 10000 BTU units. Even a basic 3000 watt unit can run one, TV's routers and that. Unless you run this, dry clothes and use an electric oven all at one is 5500 barely enough. Any home has only a few bad items, electric oven, clothes dryer, AC and a non-NG furnace or water heater (which I would avoid).
