It was fascinating to be able to read some of the episodes that were not included in the Fawcett-Crest paperbacks that I collected as a kid and young adult. Of course the paperback books are no longer in print, and I very stupidly sold my collection to my brother in law for his grandson in 1985.Even if it was family, i have never ceased to regret doing it, and have been looking to recoup the old books without success. Now, with the beginning of the Fantagraphics releases of The Complete Peanuts begun in 2004, and with releases of one new volume twice yearly until the final script by Charles M. Schulz which was written in 2000, just days before his death will be released sometime in 2016, thus leaving every peanuts script readily available for purchase and perhaps help ease the heartaches of those people like me who now regret having given up their Fawcett-Crest or Holt Reinhart Winston versions of Peanuts and are grateful for a second chance at Peanutdom. This second volume features the years from 1953-54. this volume introduces us to a new character near the end of 1954, a girl named Charlotte Braun, who's normal voice is very loud, and she comes across as rather obnoxious, but she is not around for long. In early 1955, she is dropped from the script. But this was the first time I'd ever seen her in any of the Peanuts comics. but for these and other reasons, I strongly recommend buying volume 2 of The Complete Peanuts 1953-54. A chance to see the script in the early years of Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Patty, Shermy, Violet, Schroeder, and of course snoopy. I also enjoyed Volume 3-1955-56, Volume6-61-62, and Volume 7-63-64, and am looking forward to Volume 5-59-60 which I haven't received yet. Enjoy!

Everything you would ever wish to know about the "early days" of Peanuts is in these complete editions. I purchase the 1950-1952, so perhaps after this volume, I will proceed to 1954 on. The paper quality, organization of material, the binding; everthing works on this purchase.
