A great resource for home recording!

back to analog recording. . .
This book is a culmination of articles from the 'zine "Tape Op" which was a terrific magazine for home made recordings. This compilation is a great addition to the first book. I'd have liked more 'technical details' rather than the interviews, but it's still two of the best books on the market on home studio lo-rent recording. I learned a lot from the book and it's a valuable source for me when I record even today. Would you like to start recording from home? Would you like to use older analog recording gear on analog tape? Then this is a book for you. Very informative! I think that more young artists and young recording artists will start utilizing and recording with analog gear (while still incorporating digital gear) because of the unique raw sound and the fact that it's now unique and offers a very distinctive sound without the 'polish and slick-ness' of digital recording-as well as the high compression rate with digital music. I truly believe analog will make a comeback, at least as far as initial recording on analog tape goes. Post production will probably always have computers and digital effects to 'finish', etc. But I think knowing and utilizing analog gear will continue to increase? Just an opinion. . . A great book, pick it up!
