I used this gambrel to hang a deer today and the product worked exceptionally. This is a well designed gambrel and the materials are top notch. The hooks that are used to secure the legs right above the rear knees are perfectly shaped and sized to keep a deer or other game from sliding off while skinning and cutting. The supports on the inside of the gambrel add strength and rigidity, and the rope/ hook loop at the top center is closed off to prevent it from coming detached if you must hoist the animal it up. The textured powder coat finish adds a nice protective layer and attractive look. While the width is perfect for deer and smaller animals, it wouldn't be suitable for hanging larger animals like moose and elk; keep in mind that this model is designed for deer and that the company does make a larger version that is not only wider, but also holds more than twice the weight. For the price (I paid under $10) it is a steal. It is perhaps the nicest gambrel I have seen at any price point for that matter. Don't hesitate on the purchase... pull the trigger (pun intended).
