Absolutely Awesome - except no battery backup....
This clock is awesome! Very easy to use. Great to wake up to. I don't know if it's that some of these reviews are old and refer to another version of the clock, but I have it set to "birds chirping in the morning" as the sound and it's perfect. Everything is great except that where I live in Montréal, the power often gets interrupted briefly (sometimes never for months, then a couple times a week). The issue is that when the power goes off even briefly, the clock time itself resets. (Oddly, the alarm setting is fine.) The clock will blink until reset, but since it doesn't know the time, the alarm will not go off. If it's necessary that I get up on time due to a meeting or flight, I always set my mobile phone or another clock with a battery as a backup.

Could have been better
I enjoy the philips brand. You do pay a premium for their items, but they have wonderful ideas and designs. Shame the execution of this idea sometimes lacks practicality. This light is a good wake-up alarm. Removed a star because you cannot trust it 100% - always have a backup alarm because if there is a power cut, it resets straight away and loses all settings and the time and it will NOT wake you up.Alarm is easy to set up. Controls are limited but easy to understand.Removed another star because the 2 alarm choices/sounds get old pretty fast. This is the basic model but still, 2 is very limited.

No battery backup
Purchased this is November for those dark winter mornings.Pros:- bright (especially if you put it right close to your pillow)- clock is easy to set- radio seems easy although I haven’t used it muchCons:- no battery backup means you have to reset it after every power outage.- needs to be close to your face to work properly (doesn’t work well if placed on the other side of the room)Overall thoughts:It does what it says it will do. Jury is still out on whether it actually helps me wake up any easier. Lack of battery backup is a real problem especially if your area has frequent power outages.

UX nightmare. Not heavy enough. No physical buttons. Brutal.
I wanted to love this, I really did, but it is a usability nightmare. I can't believe this made it past any team of UX designers. You can't see anything on the screen to use it if your lights are on in bedroom (the 'buttons' light up barely when you tap some part of the front of the clock, but if it's in your bedroom, and your bedroom light is on, you still can't actually see the lights on the buttons unless you pick up the clock and get your face right in front of it).Trying to figure out how to program the brightness that the clock comes on in the morning also seems to be beyond me. No matter how many times I set it to "10" it always ends up resetting to a default of "4".You think you turn the alarm off in the morning by pressing the "light" button, but the light goes off and then later the birds start chirping.Trying to press any "button" on this is a gong show because there are no physical buttons, and the unit is so flimsily light (not in construction, but in actual weight) that the clock moves all over the place and is super easy to knock over.I really want a product like this -- but the design on this one is an abomination. :(

Poor interface, but functional
I've had this wake up light for a few months now, and it's been quite reliable for me. The light is nice and helps to wake me up gradually.I do have a number of complaints about it, however. Firstly, it's pretty difficult to turn off the alarm, because the button is tiny. Additionally, you have to turn off the light separately. I found the quality of either the audio sample or the speaker itself to be quite poor, as the repeating clip of birds chirping sounds screechy and sometimes glitches out.Despite these issues, I'm still happy to continue using the product. It's not worth full price though, and I would encourage looking into alternatives
