Impossible to categorise, Slice Of Life s first album is up-front and soul-baringly personal. It s a mixture of songs and spoken word that draws you in and stays with you long after the final note has been played. Slice Of Life is an opportunity for Steve Ignorant(co-founder of CRASS) to explore the more contemplative side to his songwriting. A far cry from the aggression of Crass maybe, with the songs in an acoustic setting of: piano, acoustic guitar and upright bass, but nonetheless compelling as Steve Ignorant opens both heart and soul when reflecting on life and then reminds us just why we should never give up on this world or on each other with his poems and songs that make us think about the world around us and reminds us just why we should still care. I love it.
I've always been a fan of Steve Ignorant and Crass: this is something completely different. Still politically charged and full of anger and pathos but delivered in a much less aggressive way. I love it.

Sehr gutes Album
Habe es als CD gekauft (Download inclusive), Paket kam pünktlich (wie immer bei Amazon).In der CD befindet sich ein Booklet, in dem sowohl Lyrics zu den einzelnen Songs sind, als auch einige weitere Texte zur Band an sich (finde ich sehr gut, zwar kann fast alle Lyrics im Netz nachlesen, aber so finde ich es einfach schöner).Zur Musik an sich:Als "Crass"-Fan war ich schon im Voraus mit der Musik von Sänger Steve Ignorant vertraut und somit war diese CD prinzipiell ein Muss für mich. Auf der CD befinden sich nicht "nur" Lieder sondern auch gesprochene Texte, die eine Art Merkmal von Ignorants Stil sind (Crass machtet ihrer Zeit das gleiche).Die Lieder wie "Love and a Lamp-post" oder "The Way Things Are" sind meiner Meinung nach einfach wunderschön anzuhören, obgleich man Ignorants stimme teilweise sehr stark im Vordergrund hört, was aber einen gewissen Charme ausmacht.Letztlich ist es Geschmackssache, ich finde das Album sehr gelungen und kann es jedem Steve Ignorant Fan empfehlen.
