Great second in series
This book has been in my pre-order since June - which is when I read Jace, the first book in this series. You don't have to read Jace to read this one as it is a stand alone, but I do recommend it as it is exceptionally good! Imagine my delight when NetGalley gifted me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review! I am so happy I don't have to wait until February to read this one, but now my wait for Country Music Cowboy (already pre-ordered) will feel like forever! To the story, Emmy Lou (country music star) and Brock (pro football player) were high school sweethearts, but their relationship fell apart. Neither is sure what exactly happened to them. Emmy Lou is the new Carrie Underwood for the league! Of course she and Brock start running into each other-and spark still fly. This book is their journey back to each other a they figure out the past and decide if they have a future. Both H and h have well fleshed out characters and both are very likable. There is no cheating, but a lot of misunderstandings. I highly recommend this book and give it a full 5 starts!

An absorbing cowboy romance
A delectable contemporary romance that will make your heart sing, Sasha Summers’s Song for a Cowboy is a charming, emotional and heart-warming tale that should not be missed.Emmy Lou King’s family name has long been synonymous with country music. Her entire clan are regarded as icons in the industry and it seemed only natural that Emmy Lou would follow in her family’s footsteps, so she is absolutely delighted when she is given the opportunity to sing the American Football League anthem and serve on one of the AFL’s drug charities. Emmy Lou cannot wait to show everyone just what she is made of, however, there is a catch: these new opportunities are going to end up propelling her straight into the path – and arms! – of the one man she had fallen head over heels in love with whom she has never quite managed to forget: Brock Watson…Emmy Lou is not the slightest bit worried about bumping into Brock again. Sure, she has never loved anyone else, but she is positive that she can handle being in close proximity to him. However, when Emmy Lou claps eyes on him she quickly realizes that moving on and keeping things strictly platonic between them is going to prove far easier said than done – especially as Brock is still as devastatingly attractive as ever and makes her feel so many different emotions that she could write a million love songs! But Brock belongs to her past not her future. Her head knows that, but her heart does not seem to be so easily convinced!Brock feels as if he has the weight of the entire world on his shoulders. With his father’s health declining, he’s juggling looking after the family ranch with the demands of being a professional athlete and his dedication to a charity that is immensely important to him. Brock doesn’t have time for anything else and a relationship is the last thing on his mind. But when Emmy Lou walks back into his life after six years, thinking about anything other than kissing her becomes next to impossible. As the two of them find themselves spending more and more together, will Emmy Lou and Brock find the courage to give their love another chance? Or will they end up letting this second chance at happiness slip through their fingers?A heart-warming reunion romance sprinkled with zingy banter, searing emotion, intense drama and red-hot chemistry, Song for a Cowboy is a spellbinding tale about two lost souls who find their way back to one another again that will have you falling madly in love with handsome and honorable Brock and cheering on Emmy Lou, who is an absolutely terrific heroine. An absorbing contemporary romance about hope, new beginnings and healing from the past that will make readers laugh and cry, Sasha Summers’s Song for a Cowboy is a fun and feel-good tale you will thoroughly enjoy.

An emotional, believable romance - loving this series
The Kings of Country series continues with the second title, Song for a Cowboy, and a second chance for two people still in love with each other to get another chance to get love right this time – but it’s not going to be easy, and they’re going to have to work hard to find their way to their happy ending this time around.I adored Brock and Emmy Lou’s romance, and while you “could” read this one as a standalone, I’d still suggest starting with Jace to get the full dynamics of this country music family and the people who enter their lives. There are folks to love and cheer on, and one person, in particular, to loathe on sight – you’ll get the differences sorted out real fast. There was a time when Emmy Lou and Brock seemed headed for a perfectly lovely future but that seemed not to be. Now, years later, they’re about to be together for a special event and will discover that some emotions, like love, never really go away especially when the love never died but was badly bruised along the way. Life apart has changed them somewhat, Brock’s certainly had his hands full during those years. Yet there is still that spark between them, and it’s up to them to follow their hearts or let the past or others get in the way of their happiness.I easily fell back into this world full of believable people, situations that I could certainly see happening, and the love, devotion of the King family shines through as always. We’ll see familiar faces once again, get caught up with Jace and Krystal (Emmy Lou’s twin) a little bit, and watch as two people who really do belong together work their way back through potholes, speed bumps, and sharp turns on that road to happiness. I had fun here, and I don’t want to give much away. Although I will always dislike Cici, I just do not see a situation where I will tolerate that woman. There are certainly intriguing hints at what may be coming, and I’m definitely watching for those developments. In all, Song for a Cowboy settled in my heart and gave me a really good, emotional, satisfying second chance romance for two deserving people. Can’t ask for much more than that!*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
