Risque fun
Advertised as "vintage risque and kinky" which it is, but it is fairly tame by Eurotica standards. The plot is a mixture of the "Most Dangerous Game" and tons of 70s exploitation films. The idea of fetish pinup models who operate a "private" investigations agency which also works as a front for all sorts of other activities is not particularly new, but Nik Guerra makes good work with it. This is not a read that lasts long after you finish, but its enjoyable

Beautiful work of art for adults.
Beautiful artwork, very sexy and erotic. The images all wearing garters and stockings and that's exactly what I want to see. Just fantastic and sometimes humourous. The whole thing is very enjoyable.

I LOVE MAGENTA!
This was my introduction to the adventures of Magenta and Lucrezia, the fethish pinup models who operate a "private" investigations agency called Shocking Stockings (their motto is "No Mercy"). Drawing upon a vast history of sexy pinup and cartoon good girl art (John Willie, Eric Stanton, Bill Ward), Italian artist Nic Guerra has come up with a winner in MAGENTA. Magenta, the buxom bouffanted brunette bad girl in black lingerie and silk stockings, and her partner Lucrezia (Lucry for short), the bubbleheaded, bubblebreasted bobbed blonde make the perfect pair. Bumbling through their cases with almost a clue, they get by by sheer erotic command of any situation (involving men) and some dumb luck. Magenta is the queen of mean, able to shoot her way or sex her way out of any situation. Lucry is the always willing-to-please counterpoint to Magenta's lead. At times the pair are reminiscent of Veronica (Magenta) and Betty (Lucry), only without the constant rivalry (methinks this is not accidental, as when things get ridiculous, the art is more subtly cartoony, and does evoke a little of Archie artist Dan DeCarlo's stylistic influence).Set in an early 1960s world of "girlie" pinup mags ("the kind men like") and sleazy fetish photography modelling, this graphic novel has miles and miles of style, certain to appeal to anyone with a keen awareness of the history of eroticartoons. Although NBM's first graphic novel featuring Magenta is significantly toned down from Magenta's earlier appearances in 4 graphic (and I DO mean graphic) collections from SQ Productions, and contains not so much a even bare breasts, it proves that MAGENTA is so loaded with style (and artwork that keeps getting better with each appearance) that she doesn't absolutely NEED the X-rated material to survive -- she's got "character"! There is a tongue-in-cheek humor and self-awareness inherent to the whole thing throughout, where it's not taking itself with completely seriously, that makes it all work. This puts MAGENTA: NOIR FATALE in a category more alongside things like Barbarella or Vampirella, always sexy but more subdued than overt. Some people kvetched in reviews of earlier MAGENTA collections that the artwork was in black and white rather than color, and that continues to be the case in NBM's full-length graphic novel, but don't let that put you off in the slightest. The black and white format is meant to be evocative of those old '60s magazines printed on cheap paper, with no highbrow aspirations like the slicker fully-painted Little Annie Fannies and Wicked Wandas of the expensive and well-known men's magazines. Guerra's fully-rendered pencil and ink drawings are masterful examples of the black and white comic format at its best. But certainly, once you've tasted the delights of Magenta and Lucrezia, you'll want to check out MAGENTA's earlier, totally explicit adventures, in the four available collections of comics from SQP: THE COLOR OF SEX, THE POWER OF PINK, THE LOOK OF LUST, and DROP DEAD GORGEOUS, reprinted from the Italian magazine X COMICS.

Why would anyone buy this comic book ?
Attractive girls who model for a bondage magazine keep on disappearing so our heroine Magenta and her side-kick Lucretia decide to investigate. They uncover the Lair of a "collector" and an almighty punch-up ensues. From start to finish all the girls wear practically nothing so I cant think why anyone would want to buy this comic book.
