smaller pieces not to my liking, and bag ripped so bottom spills the dust out -- for $25 its hard to complain about the bag but the fact there are so little pieces wasnt what i was looking for in lump charcoal. little sparking from the coals, keeping them indoors to avoid humidity -- as warned when these things heat up sometimes they spark out, and i once on a different brand had an almost fireworks spark fest so do watch the grill during the initial heating. length of burn adequate, and no smell noticed. its just crushed lump charcoal... i would buy again if i had like a family reunion bbq with hordes of folks over, otherwise there are some more expensive versions but vastly more controllable in my humble opinion. so its OK.

I loved this charcoal. There was no annoying dust you see with many other brands, no weird chemical smells, it was easy to light up, and it burns a long time. I will order it again and recommend to everybody.

I LOVE this charcoal!!! I use this for both personal and competitive purposes, I am a BBQ competitor and compete in a handful of KCBS and NEBS competitions a year. In competitions, you want to be able to control every element of flavor that goes in to your ribs, chicken, brisket, etc.. I found that most charcoal brands produce a slight chemical taste that the judges are not very fond of. With this charcoal, not only do I get a nice clean burn, whatever wood I do use in conjunction (such as apple or pecan wood) really stand out. During a rib cook off, I may need to wake up at 4am to start my smoker and I don't want to spend up to 30 minutes waiting for most charcoal to ignite fully, this charcoal lights up very fast and I can get my smoker up to temp within 15 minutes. Also, I love to make pizza on my weber kettle using a pizza insert. In order to get my kettle up to 700 degrees, I need fuel that will burn hot! This lump charcoal burns very hot, and I can produce a fully cooked wood fired pizza in less than 4 minutes. Oh! And if you love to make steak on the grill, this charcoal will allow you to sear the meat, just like how an expensive steakhouse does it.Did I mention I love this charcoal?PS: We've taken home 7 trophies including 1st in Ribs and 1st in pulled pork (out of 86 teams).

Since I have been using charcoal, this is the best one ever. It is easy to light up and no powder inside of the bag. I will definitely order it again and highly recommended.

The delivery was super fast and it was perfect for my BBQ party. It burns well and long and leaves minimal ash. I will definite buy it again.
