Functionally Perfect
This small but compact squeegee is perfect for the car. It is compact & extends to full size. Easily squeegee all the morning dew off the windows in seconds flat. We have one in every car.

Squeegee didn't work, I fixed the problem.
Initial review: I really liked the idea of being able to collapse this and store in my little car. However, I wish I'd taken the time to read other reviews because (as several mention) the rubber squeegee does not clean the windows. Seems like it may have been installed backwards in the holder because it works if I push (instead of pull) the rubber across the window. However, that leaves streaks and unevenly cleared areas on the windows.Edited to update: I removed the three screws where the squeegee is and popped it out to flip it over. That actually worked and now I really like this little gizmo.

Falls Short of Expectations
Regrettably, the Rain-X 9438X Compact 8" Squeegee has proven to be a disappointment, earning only one star from my experience. This compact squeegee falls short in various aspects. Firstly, the build quality feels flimsy and doesn't inspire confidence. The materials used seem cheap, and I have concerns about its durability over time. The performance is subpar as well. The 8-inch size, while intended for convenience, makes it less effective in efficiently clearing water from surfaces. It tends to streak and leave behind water residue, defeating the purpose of a squeegee. The handle design is uncomfortable, and the grip is not ergonomic. Using this squeegee for an extended period becomes a tedious task due to its awkward design.

Very Stiff
I was looking for something to use to help clean off my rear windshield when washer fluid and wiper is not enough during winter months in a snowy area. Compacts and opens up easily and fits nicely in an out-of-way section of my vehicle. Sponge side works excellently. Unfortunately, after 3 uses to this point, the rubber/squeegee side is so stiff that it does very little to help remove excess fluid and as a result the item often collapses back in on itself and I'm left with lines across my window. The unit is small, so that challenge makes some sense. Overall, I am satisfied, but not in love with the item.Pros: Collapses small. Opens and closes easily. Sponge works quite well.Cons: Rubber side does not squish down or mold to window and can cause the handle to collapse down.

Don't believe the negative reviews
This works great for my needs. Very compact and does a good job drying glass.

Very Poor Design
I thought that $5 was a bargain for this item however you are better off buying something that works:- The construction is very flimsy. Unfolding the handle resulted in it separating all together.- The rubber is too hard. Since the plastic body and handle are cheap and soft, it is not possible to apply the right amount of pressure to actually clear the window.Manufacturers should feel guilty for just creating garbage.

This is really bad.
First it's nice to have a compact squeegee. But it sucks that it doesn't flipping work. The plastic blade is so firm that it doesn't curve with the windshield. My 3dollar windshield squeegee may be fat but it gets the work done. It's also 8 years old... how can someone develop a blade that is so useless???
