This is well made and looks great. The pieces have a clean, smooth feel and a little weight to them. The storage fits them perfectly. Great set.

The media could not be loaded. This is a very good set period the woodwork is excellent properly fitting pieces smooth. Edges, the foam insert that retains all the chess pieces. Very tight-fitting and the chest pieces themselves are finally smooth and look excellent. This really is one of the better chess sets that I've seen for this price. It's only flaw is that the board is not magnetic, which can make less than perfect while in transit. But it is still be excellent to take with you to any destination

For the price, and for a portable folding board, this is gorgeous! The pieces are hefty, and are very satisfying. The board is well constructed, and only had one significant scratch on the playing surface, about 1.5 inches long. I'm sure that just bringing it with me on the road will introduce more scratches anyway, being a portable board, so it didn't affect my satisfaction. I'm quite impressed, and I normally seek out and buy separate boards and piece sets--this didn't need that level of customization. Surprise winner, for sure.

The only reason why I'm giving it a 4-star is because it doesn't have a built-in handle to carry it around. It's a given that a chess set is a portable game board item, therefore, some form of a handle to aid in the carrying of this fancy set would complete the package deal.Other than that, the chess pieces themselves are of superb smooth brass finish. Each piece's weight is proportionately heavy which adds to the fancy feel of it all. The chessboard also has a nice smooth varnished finish. The inside has green felt material and has an elastic band where each chess piece will be snugly secured in place during transit.I highly recommend this product. Other than the no-handle situation, it's all worth the pretty penny.

I bought this set as a present for my son and I am very happy with this purchase. I really love the feeling of the metal pieces, they are beautifully designed and very well molded.The box includes a felted inlay to store the pieces, that's very cool.I don't think that this set is a good idea for travellers. It's not magnetic, besides it's quite big (30 x 15 cm) and a little bit heavy because of the metal pieces. I think this set is perfect to your living room or your studio.Unlike some reviewers comment, my board arrived perfectly, everything nice and square.The only thing I would miss in this set is a second Queen for promotions.

My 7 year old nephew asked for a chess board game. I couldn’t buy a wooden one because he tends to bite them! So these being metal pieces, were perfect. He said it was the best Xmas gift!

I bought this for my son who is a budding player. I was a little skeptical with this considering the large amount of negative reviews across Amazon for chess sets.The men feel solid and have felt bottoms. They have a bit of weight to them and don't feel cheap at all. The board opens up flat and all of the squares line up where they are supposed to. Half of the men are copper colored (like a penny) and the others are a dull silver-ish. As a nice touch, underneath the board there are cut-outs to put the men away. If I could complain about anything, I'd say the pieces could be colored drastically differently (black v. white) so it's blatantly obvious who is who.
