Came in out of spec.
Got new and I was still having the same issue. Sent to Garrett repairs and found out it was out of spec, they replaced and now all is good. How it made it by QC in the first place I don't know.

Quality and warranty
Ordered in May 2020 sent to Garet for service they informed me my search coil is defective at least Garet has a two year warranty and it looks like they’re going to replace it for free but buyer beware

Cheap plastic used!
The top shattered just sitting in my garage for less than a month. The screw wasn't even tight on it.
