Trees

"Authoritative text, beautiful photographs and detailed illustrations show not only the overall shape of the tree but also details of leaf shape, flowers, fruits and bark." As previously pointed out by others, there are no photographs and on, receiving the book, the back cover advises " Features colour illustrations throughout for quick and easy identification". No mention of photographs. Hugely misleading Amazon.

I wanted photographs and was encouraged to buy based on the description "Authoritative text, beautiful photographs" - There are no photographs in this book, only drawings (and pretty crappy drawings at that)

Absolutely loving this little book. As much as I feel like a bit of an anorak taking an interest in Trees (thanks Dame Judy for that), I can hide my nerdiness in my coat pocket and whip out this book whilst walking the dog. The trees are easily grouped by section and leaf shapes so identification even in Winter isn't too hard at all. Each tree page has extra interesting information and at almost 25mm thick, I know there are plenty more yet to discover. Fab little book, only wish all information was this easy to find without the use of electronics.

This field guide is designed to be small enough to take out and about and this necessarily limits what it can show. I use it for quick reference and take photos of anything else that I can't identify with it so I can refer to more comprehensive tomes at home. Each of the trees it covers gets two (small!) pages - one with a brief description of the tree and it geographical origins and spread, plus brief notes on the leaves, bark and fruit.whilst the facing page has drawings (note photos) as an aid to identification

Nice little book, truly pocket sized as described so did wonder if I was doing the right thing ordering it. Upshot, I wasn’t as the format is way to small for my old eyes, regret buying it and can’t wait to go into a bookshop again instead of wasting money. Could, of course, return it but decided to keep it, might be okay for grandchildren.
