if you need a steamer for synthetic dreads/hair this is the one!
i purchased this for making hair extensions (synthetic dreadlocks) but might use it for some of its intended purposes as well. this little guy is powerful but still light enough even for my weak arthritic hands.i waited to write this review because i wanted to be sure it was doing what i needed and it really is.i had already tried an expensive stand up steamer and had to return it. i was hesitant to keep buying and returning steamers due to the fact that i only found on review on any steamer used for anything like what i needed.this steamer is powerful and really seals my dreads without spraying me or my surroundings with scalding hot water. it may drip just a bit but not really. it will definitely drip if not held at the proper angle. not in a "oh you have to hold it just right" kind of way just the angle it is mean to be held basically don't try to hold it upside down or tip it to the side too far.it does need to be refilled quite a few times during use but i am fine with that. the short cool down, refill, heat up process takes all of maybe 5 minutes. maybe less but i use that time to rest my hands, prepare more dreads, get more beverage etc. these "forced breaks" are actually great for me and my hands, keeps me from over doing it. i can steam about 20+ dreads with one refill. i should have timed how long it lasted. long enough that i don't get annoyed when it runs out.i have not once actually burned myself. i let it get to close to my hand once but just enough to get my attention for a moment. after that, no issues.i have only used the cloth attachment so i cannot say how well the others work. i imagine quite well.fellow dread makers....if you are using another method for steaming and want something better and faster, this steamer is great. it has greatly improved the quality of my product and saved me so much time and hassle.with my set up it isn't easy to seal the ends but is possible which surprised me. i have another method for that anyway so no big deal for me.if you are using it for dreads you will want to keep it held tight too cool for a moment before letting it go. if not the dread will loosen a little and maybe not be as tight as you want. of course this can be said for most steaming methods anyway.i will update this review as i use this steamer.i love it and get so much done so much faster and better now!!

Worked good on the fridge and the price was excellent
The steamer was very useful when cleaning the refridgerator, it easily cleaned under the lips of shelves and in crevices, made one of my most dreaded chores easier and faster. I also used it to clean an essential oil diffuser and it did not clean it as easily as I had expected, I am learning what it is capable of. I had to steam it numerous times, let it soak with cleaner and use qtips for the nooks and crannies. I am in my 60's and did not find it too hard to open the tank or keep my thumb pressed on the button, although it is awkward at first. I took off a star because the attachment fell off several times while I was using it, although it may be operator error. I have only used it on a few things so far, will change or add to the review if needed. I would purchase the Gideon Steam Cleaner again because of performance, the price was quite a lot cheaper than I found it anywhere else and it arrived quickly in perfect condition.

I like this one better than my old Shark
I used to have a Shark steamer, but after a year it died. I decided to try this one due to price. I think I like the Gideon better. The steam comes out more forcefully. I like the attachments better on this one as well. It does take a little longer than the Shark to heat up, but it's worth the trade off. I can clean my entire bathroom with one tank full of water.

Ouch!
Received the steamer and it leaked out of the box. First, water was leaking from around the power cord. Then, as it built up pressure, steam leaked from the button, such that when I tried to press it to release steam, it actually burned my hand.Perhaps my unit was defective, but the burn on my thumb doesn't really know the difference.

It performs as well or better than my old GE model
This item was purchased to replace an old GE model and it has more than met my expectations. I use it for a limited amount of cleaning and to remove wrinkles from certain articles of clothing, i.e. outerwear, slacks, etc., when I am pushed for time. It performs as well or better than my old GE model. Just ensure that you do not over-fill with water and you will have a better burst of steam.

A great tool for Appliances
I use this in the appliance repair industry to thaw out evaporators to diagnose or repair. It cuts thaw time of a frozen evaporator in half compared to a heat gun. It is safe for the cabinet and produces very little excess water. The only downside is the button to activate, it does not lock, making use a two hand operation.

Great Little Steamer
Bought this a few weeks ago and used it for the first time today to clean floor tile grout in our bathroom. It performed above and beyond my expectations. The steam lasts quite a while considering the size of the unit and it was plenty powerful enough to bring the grout back to new. I decided to buy the Gideon based on the many positive reviews. Certainly not a commercial grade steamer, but the average home owner will find it very useful. The only negative I have is I am not a fan of the on/off switch. I'm sure it's a safety thing but it can be a bit awkward at times. None the less I highly recommend this unit.

Cheaply made. I also bought it to combat the mold in my tub. I cleaned first and then tried all the attachments and spent several hours over several days on one small spot...no change.
