This Slippery Elm bark is light in color, smells like maple syrup and thickens up when warm water is added to it. I'm putting a heaping teaspoon in a half a cup of water, using a measuring spoon and a measuring cup. If you're using boiling water, you'll have to wait until it cools down before the Slippery Elm will thicken up. The less water you use, the thicker it will get and vice versa.Most important though, is that it's calming down my very inflamed digestive system, very quickly. And while I'm already feeling much better in just a week, I continue to take some every day, just to be on the safe side.I was using an old bottle of Nature's Way Slippery Elm capsules before I purchased this. That is also good bark, but I quickly tired of opening the capsules to dump in a cup, so I decided to get loose powder and based on the reviews tried this brand. I'm glad I did.

I use natural ingredients as much as possible and this is wonderful slippery elm bark. At my local apothecary it is $6.00 an ounce :/ I will keep this in a dark, dry location and it will last for years. I would nor normally purchase this quantity but since it will not go bad it was worth the bulk cost.

I LOVE this product!!!!!! Having taken Slippery Elm since 2002, I have tried several brands. The first clue is how marvelous its aroma is when it is opened!!! Smells like a health food store!!! It is so powerful in the best way. Dr. John Christopher taught and claimed that Slippery Elm could and would heal any disease he had treated at the cellular level!!! We use it for gut and overall health, since if there is a sore throat issue, there is ALWAYS a gut issue. We do a cleanse that requires one heaping Tablespoon full in 8 oz Distilled water three times a day. We take this every morning on an empty stomach each morning, and 3 times daily when on the cleanse we annually follow. This product is superior to any brand I have taken!!!!! Please do NOT stop making this wonderful POWDER!!!! We so believe in Slippery Elm powder, and love the stories of how it saved the lives of soldiers in the American Revolution as well as the Civil War. LOVE LOVE LOVE the quality of this powder!!!! Thanks for taking the time and trouble to make something so reasonably priced, while so incredibly beneficial!!!!!!!

This stuff is expensive and I just didnt know what to expect from all the wildly different reviews. I got Covid last June, and have been very sick ever since. I have literally had an iron stomach my whole life and never suffered from heartburn or indigestion, but since my original infection I have had GERD, acid reflux, a damaged esophagus, and now suffer from terrible stomach aches and intestinal problems. I cant take acid medications, even though they help it causes other awful side effects (anxiety, palpitations). I saw this on a website as a natural help for acidic stomach. I warmed up 8 oz. of water in the microwave for 45 seconds, added 1 tblspn. It mixed up perfectly, broke up a couple clumps with the spoon no problem. The taste to me is very light and very pleasant, it almost tastes like a sweet, cinnamon porridge! There was no bitterness, not slimy, and felt very soft and soothing on my stomach. I will be taking this 2 or 3 times daily to see if it helps, so I am so glad it tastes great in water and is easy to mix!

I have been ordering Slippery Elm for a few years and it has helped my stomach health greatly. I put 1/4 cup powder in a quart of water and simmer for 5 minutes and keep refrigerated for use. Each morning I make a drink with 2-3 T. of the SE with 1/4 C aloe vera gel and 1/2 C kefir, which I make. This is the best I have ordered on Amazon. It is light and thickens nicely when cooked. I hope they will keep up their quality.
