I see that it says effective against fungal problems, but is it only to ease the symptoms, or will it actually kill fungus?

Unlike the answer that said there is Ketoconazole in it, there is not. The Ingredients are Coal Tar, Salicylic Acid & Micronized Sulfur, Colloidal Oatmeal and Allantoin. Nothing in it will kill yeast or fungal. I think it might just make them smell better for a day or so but not actually get rid of it or even help. I bought it thinking it would help with my dogs yeast smell on their paws, but after using it three times a week and finding it did nothing I checked the bottle for the ingredients. I should have done that in the beginning, but for some reason I didn't. I just went by the bottle. If your dog has really smelly paws like mine and they are really beyond what is considered normal, then get something with Ketoconazole in it. There are some shampoo's here on Amazon that do have that in them. I'm going to be getting some myself.

Can this be used for ringworm

I've had best luck with washing areas daily with wash rag & rinsing with clean water. I think it will treat ringworm if used daily. It's really not hard to do. It takes me about 15 minutes to wash areas & rinse off without a complete bath everyday.. I just do a complete bath about once a week. I use Hot Spot Medicine from discount store also. Good luck. It's healing my dog & I'd spent hundreds of $ at the vet on medication.

The last ingredient is Propylene Glycol and that is why I will NOT buy this stuff. This is what it is... Propylene Glycol: Derived from natural gas and used in the automotive industry, propylene glycol is used as a humectant causing moisture retention by coating the hair shaft and preventing water from escaping. Propylene Glycol is a strong skin irritant as well as a liver and kidney toxin.
