Timing for Animation 2nd Edition

It's true timing for animation is something that in order to do well, you need to already have good timing instincts, however this book can help you identify and improve your timing skills. We all have timing skills to some extent and this book can refine that so you can be a more effective animator. It has information for both beginner and advanced students. Highly recommended. A must have for any animator or motion designer to reference.

I have many books on the topic and this is a very, very good one. Timing is key and this book proves it. I have many (character) animation books and this one is one of my last purchases. Is it new material, well for the time of its' printing, yes, but many books today have used this books information in various ways. The fact that it is a shorter book makes it easy to access information. What the topic of character animation really needs is a book solely for CG. If this books information was transferred to CG tools it would be the bible. Timing charts are great for 2D but for CG we need to know how to apply this to the graph editor and dope sheet. I'm still waiting for that book. :)

This book really digs deep into this principal of animation. Some tidbits in here I never had considered before while animating! If you're interested in learning more about animation or refining your skills, this book is worth your while!

"Timing for Animation (2nd Ed)" offers a scratch-the-surface introduction to animation. Although the book has been revised to include 3-d animation, its general focus is still 2-d animation. Basic timing concepts are covered in the book, providing the reader with rough principles for animating actors and matter. If you're looking for information on detailed animation timing, you should keep looking. However, for the beginner, the book does an excellent job of pointing out how to avoid the "mechanical animation look" that any good animator wishes to avoid. In short, this book provides a great basis for the beginning animator. If your focus is 3-D animation, the principles in the book still apply, but are written from a 2-D animation perspective.

Very good book that opened my eyes to some really important facts about timing. I started reading The Animators Survival Kit and noticed I was not getting enough info about Timing. So I looked for a book that dedicated all of its content to the subject. Timing is almost as important as story in my opinion. Worth the buy!

I really like this book. Fairly good price and was delivered as expected!You can learn the basics of the traditional animation from it. And also apply the same rules in digital animation (2D/3D).

If you are beginning in the animation this book really opens your mind despite being very short in pages length. Timing is a basic task you must dominate in order to become a skilled animator. This book contains plenty of examples with concepts like: accents, anticipation, etc. You will enjoy it.

Must have for animation. Good explanation of principles.

Este es un libro que te servirá de mucho si estas empezando en animación cuadro a cuadro o si ya tienes un nivel más avanzado y buscas mejorar tu animación. Empieza con conceptos generales y después en cada unidad va enfocándose en elementos específicos, como loops, expresiones en los personajes, deformaciones, overlapping, etc.

Necesario para cualquier persona que se dedique a la animación, al terminar la universidad ya no lo podía sacar prestado de la biblioteca y lo he comprado. Lo uso muy a menudo para mi trabajo.
