No more cat feces in garden
Update It took three plus days to get rid of my neighbors cats comming into our garden. This was costing us money to replace rubber mulch, flowers, and time on weekends to take back our garden. Bird X helped. The suggested frequency was not working for cats. My husband suggested to turn the frequency up high and it worked. You saved our garden. We were thinking about removing our garden and replace with concrete. We live on a cul de sac up on a hill and downhill. However, passers decides to let their dogs poop without scooping it up, we have signs with a camera pointed directly in that area. We bought another one and hid in our hedges and dogs and their owners keep moving. We love animals and don't mind if your dog have to go but its done on private property so have decency to scoop the poop. However, we don't own any pets, so its time consuming and costing us to clean after owners pets. We put down signs and its not neighborly.

Did not deliver the expected results
Mainly it did not deliver the expected result, the sensor and the flashing light worked, but the birds (peacocks and rooster) continued to ignore the ultrasonic response. The Solar ultrasonic hardware was too low in height, had to continuously trim the surrounding grass, and if tilted a little the rain water got inside and damaged one of the pieces (not waterproof).

Works pretty well, but they don't last very long
The past couple years I've used these for deer and rabbits in Upstate NY, and for armadillos in FL, with pretty good results. But the latest batch I received only lasted a couple months before they failed. It's not the batteries, but the unit itself just stops working. Pretty disappointing. My guess is that qualtiy control has dropped significantly. I'm currently looking for alternative brands.

This solved our stray cat problem
We HAD a bad problem with too many stray cats on our property. We bought six of these to cover both front and backyard and the cats no longer bother us. At all. Turn the frequency up higher to get rid of cats. It’s funny to see the cats walking around the perimeter of our property and never actually walking through it anymore. No more cat droppings on our lawn!

This product is effective on cats!
This product does a great job on cats. You will have to experiment with placement and frequency settings to get the most effective performance. First my working settings...1. Left Button: (Motion Sensitivity) I turned this all the way up2. Right Button (Frequency Control) I set this to M+Background: There is a large aggressive un-fixed male cat that has been terrorizing our inside cat that gets outside visitation with one of us present. This Male cat actually attacked our cat right in front of us by sneaking up on us. My wife was bitten and scratched protecting our cat. I purchased three of these Bird-X devices in hopes of blocking off access to our backyard along the sides of the house, and keeping the male cat away from the window our cat sits in a lot. Initially, I set the frequency to H and the cat walked right by it. I then set it to M and definitely got a reaction from the cat, but he still moved away quickly and then walked around it. I finally set it to M+ so it would flash the LED lights briefly at medium Frequency and that did the trick! The cat was really determined and still got by though. By the third day, the cat just turned around and ran away. So it takes time to get results. The instructions say up to three weeks, we have seen results in three days. The build quality is of much heavier plastic than the first devices I tried and sent back. To my amazement, the Bird-X devices came with AA NiMH batteries instead of cheap NiCad batteries. I was happy to discover a set of charged batteries will last an average of 200 days at 10 activations a day. You can also put standard AA batteries in them as per instructions, but I would cover the solar cells on top of the device with something to prevent solar charging. who needs solar with battery life like this? The sound emitted at an M+ setting seems to reach out about 7 feet from the emitter based on the cat's behavior. The LED lights combined with the frequency setting of M really is upsetting to the cat though. Now, cats are different and have different hearing and reactions so don't be afraid to experiment. We went out and enjoyed our backyard today with our little cat when we witnessed the male cat get driven away by the Bird-X device. On a last note, the device is directional in its sound, so it does not bother our cat. The higher range of frequencies does not penetrate the walls or windows of our house so our cat is not bothered inside the house or in the backyard. I did a test at point-blank range through a window at our cat sitting in its window bed and it had no effect whatsoever. Great product!

Didn’t scare or apparently even annoy the skunks…
You can see by the blue light on the front of the camera that the unit is currently blasting its annoying noise, and the skunk is unaffected, happily standing there eating sunflower seeds that were dropped by the birds. The noise is audible and piercing, and my dog and I were unhappy about my decision to turn it on in the house after installing the batteries, but it did not have the desired effect with regard to the skunk problem we are experiencing. The skunks come in from the right, and are blasted with the starting at least 8-12 feet before where the stinky bugger stands in the picture, and he ambled up to within 2 feet of the unit before tucking in and helping himself to a quick meal. I’ll keep watching, but I think this was an expensive failure.Next, I’ll the motion-activated sprinkler. We’ll see if we have any better success with that.If you decide to try this on your own, the instructions warn you not to aim it into neighboring yards, public areas, or caged or leashed animals. I believe this is sage advice - it’s loud and irritating, just not to skunks.----I was feeling bad about giving it such a low score, so I turned the unit up all the way and was hoping for better the following evening. At 10pm I checked out the camera and a huge skunk was there completely unaffacted by the sound. I was still dressed, so I ran out and grabbed the hose and shot the smelly dude from 30 feet away or so, and he ran faster than I have ever seen a skunk move. So in spite of my regret for givnig a low rating to this product, the low rating was well earned.9/27:We were surprised that the raccoons actually were chased off by the noise. So I upped my review - the skunks were our target for this, but we don’t want the raccoons almost as much, so good on the yard Guard.
