An essential book for any watercolor artist
I appreciated the clarity of the descriptions and the insightful way in which Mario described his approach to painting. It's much more than a "how-to" book. The artist/student will gain understanding of how Mario finds meaning in a subject, how he frames his subject on the paper, and for me, most importantly - the clean, classical techniques that he used to create his elegant watercolors. The sections on portraiture are especially compelling.

A Great Find...
I have been an art instructor for the last 22 years, and am always reading about different techniques in a variety of mediums. I hadn't seen a book on watercolor that I could understand (I'm green color-blind) until now. A lot of books focus on palettes that are wide ranging in color, which is frustrating for me. They also do not specifically address the movement, flow, or control of water. However, I found this to be very easy to understand. I was so interested in this book that I found myself reading it from cover to cover in one day, then going back and trying a lot of Mr. Robinson's suggestions in regards to executing a watercolor painting. As with any book, you are getting that particular artist's/author's take on the subject. Usually, I read a book, keep what I find useful, and assimilate it into my own process. I find myself referring back to this and feel as if I have unlocked a secret code to having more success in not only my own work, but in the instruction of my students.

Interesting painter
Interesting painter. I painted several water color paintings using his technique. Written well. Good for beginner or someone who has been painting a while.

Confidence
I loved this book. While reading this book, I felt more confident in my abilities. I felt I really understood the information imparted…. I didn’t say to myself - I’ll google that later. I am so thankful to Mario Robinson. I’ll never be more than a mediocre artist. However, I think my skill level, confidence and creativity will move forward.

A must have watercolor book!
Mario's book is a true treasure and very well written. He makes watercolor painting enjoyable by giving the "little secrets" that take years to learn on your own. This book is a must for anyone who desires to improve their painting.

Muy completo
El libro es pasta blanda, pero resistente. El interior es couche mediano mate.Buenos acabados.

This one was the best kind of surprise
I don't often take the time to review books, since I spend so much time reading as many of them as I can. This one, however, was a game-changer for me. I've purchased and read probably hundreds of art books as I teach myself to rediscover a passion and talent from decades ago. Many left wanting. This one was the best kind of surprise. I'd seen Robinson's work in a magazine article, and it really appealed to me, despite my aversion to watercolour. I bought the book in hopes of learning some techniques that could cross over into pastels and oil painting, and now instead I have found myself taking a deep dive into watercolour of all things. Robinson's underpainting approach really clicked with me. But the book is so much more than that. He explains things clearly and eloquently, he gives explicit examples, he works with a limited palette and creates remarkably luminescent portraits and landscapes, and he does it all in a way that feels like being in a one-on-one workshop. One of the best instructional books that I have ever read.

I still do not know why, but the book only cost me 4€ (plus shipping). New and in good condition. I really love the work of Mario Andres Robinson. The book is correct, good step by step and perfect illustrations. 100% recommendable.

Inspirational
This a beautiful book. He is a stunningly good portrait painter but there is also many other topics in this book. He is one of those painters that can achieve things with watercolours that you normally associate with oils - only with the end result much fresher and more lovely. Of course this book passes on a lot of great advice on how to get to this level. I dream on...
