OTC(1040) Mechanical Grip-O-Matic Puller - 13 Ton, Long 2 Jaw

I have never been more disappointed in a tool. I have used it for a day and the point is completely gone up to the threads. I tried pushing it against hardened steel and mild steel and it still just crumbled. I only used hand tools to tighten the screw (no impact) and had lubricated the threads with moly grease. The tool produced massive amounts of force, but it falls apart at the end rendering it unusable after 1 or 2 jobs. If it was a 20 dollar Harbor Freight puller, I wouldn't be surprised, but OTC has a reputation for quality and this tool was not up to that standard. I was probably pushing the tool close to 10 tons, but given its 13 ton rating, it should have held up better. The reach was good and the product looks sturdy, but the materials let the tool down. I attached a picture of the new tool and what it looked like after 1 morning of work.

Perfect. I work on commercial HVAC, and this tool worked wel on a 30hp motor to take off the end bell as well as the bearings no problem what so ever.

This product was used to remove rusted-on wheels on a 1977 P30 step van. Tool performed flawlessly. You took very little effort to remove the wheels after gripping the wheels and applying moderate pressure to the nut. I highly recommend this gear puller. I will probably use it a lot in the future.

Came with the wrong push bolt. Everything was new but the threaded bolt was to small for this puller. I had to buy the correct threaded bolt.

The shaft that go through it, was too small I had to add 2 nuts and 2 washers can make it work. As you can see in the picture.

When I received the tool everything was missing except the puller arms. Box had been previously opened and not even taped back shut.

Love it, awesome tool. A bit bigger than I expected but non the less works awesome for what I needed.
