The artwork was wonderful and the stories were imaginative
Big fan of the tv series and the 5 issue Gold Key comics. The comic books depict scenes that even Irwin Allen's tv show special effects budget couldn't do in live action on a regular basis such as the little people reacting to being grabbed by giant hands, interacting with giant animals, and being lost in giant sized settings (a zoo, a department store) that require a bigger budget and sound stage than Irwin Allen can afford. Lively comic stories that feature all 7 of the cast members in action even if there are no S.I.D. agents or Inspector Kobick lurking around. The artwork was wonderful and the stories were imaginative. If "Land of the Giants" can be revived as an animated series, the comic book style here would be a good place to start for inspiration to design the lost little people of the Spindrift in cartoon form.

Great Adventures for Small People
It's great that companies like Hermes and others have been able to put together these compilations from the sixties and seventies comics. Hermes put some real work into this book. The introduction and supplementary material is excellent. Great feedback on the writers and artists. The stories themselves are so-so. Children should be attracted to the adventures, but there is little character development here but sometimes that's okay. And I do prefer these stories to what's coming out today.Would love to see IDW and Hermes do similar collections for Man From UNCLE, Get Smart, and other Gold Key/Dell series.==JThree

Time Does Not Dwarf Appeal
A great idea from producer Irwin Allen turns into a unique and often scary series that deserves revisiting. When a spaceship of earthlings crashes on the Land of the Giants its passengers and crew have a daily fight for survival until their ship can be prepared. Most of the "giants" are sadistic and nasty which provides the suspense and fear that laces most episodes. The special effects (1960s) are great for the era: watching the earthlings devise ways to dial a huge telephone in an emergency or dodge a huge snake or barking dog or a giant's high heel is still a thrill . There is also a certain amount of tension amongst the macho crew and the effete and forever complaining passenger Fitzhugh (Kurt Kasznar, a virtual un-heard-of and yet the best known of the cast). The macho Gary Conway captains the ship and there's a butch white "brainiac" and a butch but gentle black 2IC. Fasten your seatbelts for sexy Deanna Lund as Valerie: watch as she dashes through the giant undergrowth shaking her long hair, screaming and wise-cracking to order. The boring ship's hostess and the requisite boy,Barry (pronounced BERRY) round out the regular cast. A clever and alarming and imaginative allegory.

Land Of The Giants The Complete Series book
Good book. If your into the Irwin Allen show, this is a nice touch to finish off the rest of the book series as a graphic novel goes. the gold keycomics are restored to the level of excitement that you got when you were 7 yrs old. Like the author states, its not about the episodes, just the collection of comics that was out in the early 70's. It does how ever give a good breif history on the show along with great art work that was used to create the tv series, along with some of the key collectables of LOTG.Hopefully HERMES PRESS will come out with the gold key collection of LOST IN SPACE.

Misleading Book Title
Probably my misunderstanding I thought that this was going to be about the series and the episodes told as stories. Instead its a book containing 5 comic strip stories which are good but not what I was expecting. In my opinion this needed to be made clearer in the book title
