Even though the period covered is about 100 years, the information given is very good. This product is similar to others in the Osprey Men-at-Arms series. They feature a good layout and structure with all the information you need to get your feet wet in a given topic.

Armies of the East India Company 1750-1850. the development of their erotic uniforms of the Indian troops. Wish they did more of the British Troops. Should do the Uniforms of the East India Company 1600's - 1750.

One of the most unusual , Colorful & Effective of Armies
If you are interested in the The Rise of the British Raj and its Mercenary Army. Then this slim volume is well worth the time and money. As usual with Osprey, their work usually is either so-so or is a hit out of the Stadium. This one is a home run. The text and the illustrations are 1st rate & well executed.

Nice book but lacks sufficient breadth
This is a pretty good starter book for those interested in the subject. The information on the first two thirds of the book is useful but there is for me too little focus on the 1840's (Afghanistan and two significant wars against the Sikhs). That said, it is well illustrated and the colour plates in the centre of the book are of the quality one would expect of an Osprey book. For anyone with a passing interest in the subject its worth the expense.
