Wish I'd Known About This Sooner
Neckpro Cervical Traction Device arrived in my mailbox, two days after being ordered. It adjusts to any door thickness using two wing screws. I use my steel front door because of its strength. Assembly couldn't be simpler. Look at instructions carefully. Put mounting bracket in center of door. Close door. Adjust wing screw with fingers to secure bracket to door. Place a straight back chair against door. Hook in the traction device to the click in hook. Notice that the tension can be released by clicking the switch at the top of the traction device. Make sure that you know how to do this before proceeding. The cervical collar takes a little trial and error to figure out, but it can only work one way, so eventually you'll figure it out. Notice the placement of the velcro straps, and that will help you. My results in only two days are nothing short of phenomenal. Waaaay better than my expectations. Proceed slowly with the tension, when first using. Unlike many other users, I have not had one bit of discomfort with the cervical collar. I place it around my head, and put a minimal tension on the collar. I adjust it to hit just under my chin, so that it doesn't hurt. I do not clinch my teeth. Sit up straight and pull the cord until tension is achieved. I almost go to sleep when using. My first observation was a feeling of increased blood flow to my neck. Nothing popped in my spine. All pain in my neck and shoulder joint ceased immediately. I feel like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, after being lubed up with his oil can - sweet relief. I use this about 10 minutes at a time, while watching TV. I have really noticed an immediate improvement in my neck pain, easing of my shoulder pain. The "crick" in my neck is almost totally gone. My sleep has improved. The extreme pain in my right shoulder socket has just about left completely. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. Read the instructions, know how to release the winch pressure, adjust the collar for comfort before applying tension, apply pressure cautiously, relax and be calm. Feel the pulsing of increased blood flow in your neck. Turn you head gently from side to side. Notice that there is no grinding, or sandy feeling in your neck. To release the tension, sit up a little so that pressure is taken off the winch, and the release button will engage easier. Congratulations on making a great decision. What a wonderful product!!!!

Watch out if you have TMJ
I not only suffer from neck pain for the past few years. I was recommended traction by my doctor and spent several months at PT. The therapist did traction using her hands while also assigning me exercises to build the muscles in my neck. Overall, the muscles become better but I continued to suffer from vertigo and have pain. I started to investigate these gadgets for doing traction on my own. Of course the ultimate are the $300 electrical machines. Considering what I paid for in PT, maybe that would have been a better investment. This model had good reviews so I took a chance. I read that some users with TMJ had difficulty. Some users also tweaked the unit to reduce jaw pain. Following this advice I purchased a few parts at a hardware store. This reduced the pressure on the side of the jaw. That said, the unit is holding on to to the back of your head and under your jaw as it lifts up your head. I'm sorry to say that even with my tweaking of the machine, I was having pain in my jaw. It does help the neck. Can't say it is a night and day difference. I proceeded to use the units several nights and worked my way up in weights. After 1 week my TMJ was flaring up. Bottom line: The maker needs to place a warning on the unit. DO NOT USE if you suffer from TMJ. I prayed my jaw pain would go away as I REALLY wanted this unit to work. But its design, and most likely, other door-based traction units are going to cause havoc on your jaw joints. In the end, it was a waste of money. You may get better results by doing chin-tucks and also hanging your head off the bed and doing tucks. In this case, no pressure on your TMJ. If you have ONLY neck pain, buy this device. If you have any level of TMJ. Do not buy this! I will rate a 1 star simply to help save other TMJ the time/money on this unit.

Well made, and it works well for me
After slogging through dozens of products and many reviews here at Amazon and elsewhere, I finally decided to try this traction device. I have C6 and C7 vertebral bone spurs and have frequent nerve pain and numbness, sometimes debilitating. The NeckPro works as advertised and does help relieve my symptoms. I also find that, in contrast to other such products I've encountered, it's finish and build are good quality and it so far has proven to be sturdy and fairly easy to use. Yes, it looks a bit medieval in the pictures, but in person it really just looks like a medical device and is not scary to use. Also, because of the way it's built, I can actually use it by attaching it to my bed frame and using it lying down. The strength of the pull is not quite as strong, but I find that using traction while lying on the bed is gentler and more pleasant.

Well made, but did not fit me correctly.
I think it is a well made device, it just did not fit me well. I am a very small person. I do like this device over the idea of figuring out how much water to pour in a bag for the perfect amount of traction. Because of the "click" method to add or subtract traction it works well to adjust it according to how much traction you need. It just squeezed my face way too much, and actually caused my pinched nerve to hurt more than without using the device. I just think I am too small of a person to use it correctly.
