How does StingRay Shields Technology work? The StingRay Shields Case-System was designed by a team of engineers to reduce the absorbed radiation emitted by a wireless device. Based on the principle of targeted attenuation, this patent-pending technology combines the physics of attenuation that results in the gradual loss of radio waves by passing them through a medium (much like sunlight is attenuated by UV glasses) with the process of redirecting these waves away from the user’s head and hand and out the side and top of the device. Made in the U.S.A Oh, and of course, the StingRay Shields Case-System is Made in the USA –- designed and engineered in Los Angeles, built and hand-assembled in the Silicon Valley, and comprised of components that showcase the skills of several American Artisans -- with all the high standards and integrity of US craftsmanship. Experience Peace of Mind Since wellness is the connection of knowledge with action, we all need to practice proactive health care. Let go of radio waves and sustain your Zen. You can relax now. Glide into the Future with Style and Durability. These cases are dynamically designed, and are crafted with premium and exotic materials for both safety and elegance. Embrace the change as Science meets Art. StingRay Shields cell phone cases inspire the creative tastes of people who seek fashion and individuality in the products they purchase. STINGRAY SHIELDS CASE-SYSTEMS – Satisfy All Your Needs Take a moment out of your life and REALLY look at your cell phone. It’s our constant companion. It provides us with a wealth of information. Its style -- and cover -- often make a statement about who we are. We just can’t live without one. That’s the problem! The simple truth is that cell phones, which are constantly held up against our heads and kept in our pockets, work on the principle of radio waves (much like microwave ovens) that can be absorbed into our body tissues. While there is a dispute over the dangers of cell phone radiation, scientists from across the globe have associated serious health problems with long-term cell phone use. Scientific testing on the StingRay Shields Case-System has validated a reduction as high as 96% in the Specific Absorption Rate of Radio Frequency (RF) radiation. And just as this antenna technology redirects these RF signals away from the user’s body, it likewise decreases the power needed to transmit and receive from cell towers, which increases the signal strength of your electronic device and, in turn, can prolong the battery life. StingRay Shields cases are also comprised of eye-catching elements, and for those of us who are prone to dropping our phones, these lightweight cases are constructed with a tough durometer TPU and meet Military Drop-Test Standards. About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. BRAINS, BRAWN & BEAUTY How did you come up with the idea for this product? One day I saw my 4 year-old niece pretending to use a cell phone. When I took the really warm device away from her little hands and face, I realized that just as we are now becoming aware of the risks from long-term sun exposure, we will recognize that there must be health hazards also associated with holding these electronic devices against our heads –- particularly for the generation of young people who are beginning to use cell phones at such an early age. Of course, the next step was to determine if there was any basis for this logic. Sure enough, numerous scientific studies have confirmed this concern -- particularly with the “cumulative effects” of cell phone radiation -- and some cities like Berkeley, California have already passed a “Right to Know” law about the health risks associated with radio frequency radiation from cell phones. The inspiration was born -- the perspiration was just beginning: How to create a cell phone case that not only significantly reduces the radiation to the user’s head and body, but is also lightweight, durable, and with stylistic components that make a statement about who you are! What makes your product special? There are hundreds of cell phone cases on the market. Most are basic, made overseas from low-grade materials, and come in either a plain or a splashy color. They have minimal utility, other than to perhaps give a little protection against damage to your phone. The StingRay Shields Case-System, though, involved several years of engineering and detailed design work to provide both superior RF protection and a look that is unique to our brand. What has been the best part of your startup experience? Like many of us, I had always hoped to make a contribution to improve the way we live. When I realized the need to address the dangers from cell phone radiation, I faced the immediate challenge of finding experts who understood the technical issues of creating a cell phone case that would reduce radiation, without a resulting loss of signal strength. Nothing is more satisfying now than to know that I have brought more awareness to this problem, and have created a solution that will benefit others.

THE Case for Consumers Who Want to Reduce Radation Exposure from Cell Phones - Great Design with Superior Protection
If you are serious about reducing the radiation exposure that you get from your cell phone, this iPhone 6 case is going to be a win in your book. After watching a video detailing the research of Dr. Debra Davis, it became evident to me that the EMF and radiation emitted from cell phones is indeed dangerous, especially if you're like me and you tend to leave your cell phone near your head while you sleep. In fact, if you read the research right, it seems that the devices that have become a part of our everyday lives may even be lethal over the long-term. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, hypochondriac, or the type to buy into fear mongering but the research speaks for itself and anyone who is concerned about this issue has valid reason to worry. However, like most of the world, I wasn't about to give up my cell phone and I need it close by at night because I can get client calls at all hours of the day, even sometimes at 3 or 4 in the morning. This case drastically reduces exposure to cell phone radiation by over 80 percent of the FCC standards on the iPhone 6, which is the highest level of reduction I was able to find in a cell phone case. Since reducing this exposure was my primary concern, the drawbacks didn't really bother me and were something I was more than willing to put up with in return for the protection from the health risks my phone evidently poses. What are the drawbacks?1. The case is heavy, very heavy. It feels like it at least doubles the weight of your iPhone 6 if not triples it. However, I don't think they have the technology to create a lightweight case to reduce your exposure by this amount so if you want the protection you're going to have to deal with a much heavier phone in your hands.2. The case is a bit on the bulky side. My phone no longer glides easily into my pocket. I have to keep it in my purse now. Which, again, is something I'm willing to deal with in return for the protection the case offers.3. You're going to need to get a tempered glass screen protector due to the weight this case adds to your phone. With the added weight, the screen on your phone is going to be toast if you manage to drop it in such a way that the phone's screen hits a hard surface (such as hitting the corner of a counter or something). If the phone falls completely face down on a flat surface, the "ridge" of the cell phone case extends beyond the screen of your phone so the screen should be protected in theory. In the real world, however, that's not always how drops happen so you're going to definitely want a tempered glass protector on your screen when using this case. I wish they would have included added screen protection with the case considering the considerable amount of weight it adds to the phone. With that being said, the design of the case seems more than adequate to protect the phone itself from a drop. The case arrived in nice retail packaging, unlike many of the other cell phone cases I have ordered from Amazon. I'm used to getting cell phones in a plastic baggie in a padded envelope when ordering online. Not with this case. Quality retail packaging was included, for those who are thinking of buying this as a gift. I've included a picture. The case comes with very straightforward instructions that were obviously written by someone who speaks English, unlike most of the other cell phone cases I've purchased. The case comes as two parts, an inner part that is made of a rubber-like material and the outer hard shell of the case. You put the inner part of the case on first and then maneuver the outer shell onto it. It took seconds to put it on my phone and took very little maneuvering to get the outer case over the inner case, unlike some other brands I've tried. As far as the design of the case, when I ordered this the picture seemed to me as if the pattern were a jeweled one. This is not the case. The "sting ray" or "kite" emblem of the design is recessed with a metallic-type foil stamp finish. The diamond-like design is made up of a foil stamped design and while it is metallic-looking, it is not jeweled. This is not necessarily a bad thing as the case still looks very attractive but it's something to consider when ordering if you're expecting one thing and get another. The only reason this got 4 stars instead of 5 is the danger the weight poses to the screen of the phone and the fact that no full-screen protection was included with the design of the case. If they would have provided screen protection, such as a tempered glass screen protector, I would have given it five stars.Overall, if you're concerned with reducing exposure to radiation from your cell phone, this case is a definite winner in my book. However, before making an informed purchase you need to be aware of the fact that it adds quite a bit of weight to your phone and you'll need added screen protection because of that.

Not a Fan
I'm a little skeptical of the whole radiation stuff as if a phone case if the difference between life and death in the long term. The map it lays out in the product description gives a fairly good picture of what this case claims to do. If you're into that, it's hard to go wrong. My biggest problem is that it adds a bit of bulk. It's not "that" noticeable, but it's definitely something to consider. It's also really not that easy to take in and out of the case. I imagine long term durability will be a problem, though I haven't gotten to that point yet.If you're looking for a case that deals with radiation, I suppose this is a good fit. For everyone else, it's probably best to avoid.

Cost prohibitive . . . .and unattractive
I can not vouch for the ability of this phone case to be able to reduce the radiation. I can only take them for their word that it does so. But this sort of case is mostly for those who hold their phone up to their head / ear when they are talking. Many of us use either a Bluetooth microphone / headset or earbuds that have a microphone. This cell phone case is actually two pieces. There is the outside plastic case, which they call the “accent plate”. . . then there is the inside “rubbery” case which houses the radiation reducing part. Unfortunately, they way of doing things makes the case feel like it’s falling apart. Also, it’s not possible to purchase additional ‘accent plates” on Amazon yet, though I do see one on the StingRay website. . .and it’s not cheap. I also do not find the case to be “fashionable” in the least. The word “ugly” comes to mind.I LOVE the fact that the case is Made in the USA. . . but the current price is crazy expensive.

Highly recommend this case
Picked up this Stingray Shields case for the wife. Mainly because the gold and black looked classy and matches most of the hardware on her handbags. I know she plans on picking up a few of the decorative plates to match more of her stuff. The case itself is built well. Has protected the phone from multiple waist high drops. Don't know too much about the technology of the radiation protection. By reading up on it, seems legit. Plus, any little bit of protection is a BONUS to me! Packaging is on point. (I'm kind of a packaging geek. LOL) . Highly recommend this case. Oh yeah... one this that swayed me in the direction is.... it's MADE IN THE USA! You don't see that very often in the cell phone case world.

Not so nice
I'll give the makers of this unit the benefit of the doubt on the technical aspects of their claims. I have no way to test the shielding technology. I will focus on the build quality and usability of the case, however. It's a rubber shell and then the wood grain looking exterior is a thick, plastic part that clips onto the phone. It's really not very nice and adds a lot of bulk to the phone. Unless the shielding technology is a major concern for you, I'd consider other options.

Finally
I put an anti radiation device on my phone. It was hard to find any case that would fit. Thanks to this case, I don't need a chip and my phone is protected. This case is two pieces. There's a flexible plastic type case with anti radiation embedded in it. You snap a plastic frame with wood backing over the flexible plastic. It's lightweight. Feels good in my hand. Reception is great.

Attenuate the signal but it's still just as strong?
How many of you have electrical engineering degrees? I do, and the statements made about this product make no sense to me. They say it reduces radiation without reducing signal strength, is that possible? Only if you reduce the radiation in one direction by reflecting it into another direction. Apparently, you may reduce the radiation going towards your hand, but it will be reflected into your brain. I would much rather have my hand radiated than my brain. The product looks nice, and if that is why you are buying it, great, but I encourage you to not rely on a marketing department if you are concerned about cell phone radiation.
